Could PVP gear be added to the Gold Saucer prize exchange?

Edit to be clear: I am talking about undyeable level 1 versions of the current PVP gear, similar to the approach taken for the Garo sets in the past. PVP gear would retain its value by being dyeable.

Previously the GARO/Makai collaboration gear, generally regarded as a "PVP event", also had level 1 undyeable versions of all the gear and weapons available from the Gold Saucer.

The end of the collaboration massively reduced the range of gear that could be purchased with MGP, and the prize exchange feels very lacking now.

So it occurred to me – could the same approach be taken with other PVP gear?

Having undyeable versions of the regular PVP sets available from the Gold Saucer would mean that people have multiple routes for acquiring glamours through side content they enjoy.

The different versions also have their own benefits: Gold Saucer is more accessible to beginners and lets you use some cool role-specific glamours from level 1; PVP (requiring more effort to gain) has more lasting value because it's dyeable. So people might collect both versions at different stages in their levelling process.

It also means that developing new glamour sets adds more prizes for two kinds of content instead of one.

It would give MGP a lot more value for me personally. When the Makai gear was available, building up a stash of MGP felt like it was storing glamour in advance, with such a big range of things to buy. Now there's such a small amount and I've already bought anything that was interesting.

So from what I've read the Garo/Makai gear is probably never coming back bc they'd need to get license for it again (or some such), which is a huge shame because it looked really nice. I agree with you I also have little use for MGP atm..

It was a lot easier to PvP than to farm the MGP for the undyeable glam. Like A LOT
(And you got an achievement, which lets you rebuy every glam for 1k Gil at any time, so you don't have to store the glam forever)

I see everyone wants all the PvP gear for all the other activities they do except PvP. I guess PvP players should be able to buy everything else then for the PvP currency as well, right? Only fair.

Um... PvP already rewards PvE currency. This is literally already a thing.

I know Garo isn't coming back (may its wonderful glamours never be forgotten), and that's not what I'm asking for.

Different things are easier for different people.

I really dislike PVP and only do it when I need glamour. I'm pretty sure I'm a detriment to whichever team gets me, but the game has decided that PVP is the only route I can take to acquire certain outfits.

I'd much rather collect MGP over time and spend it when I want something.

Absolutely fair. I would love to see currency more centralised and let people choose which type of game content they engage with to acquire things, instead of having X different currencies that all buy specific things.

Ideally I'd suggest Gold Saucer selling the exact same dyeable items as the PVP vendor, but I didn't think people would like that way, which is why I instead suggested the same "lesser alternative" route they already took with Garo.

I would prefer that those interested in actual PvP be able to wear PvP gear. You like the look, do the time, get the marks, buy the gear.

To do otherwise would require all PvE rewards available via tokens from the Eden Savage raids to become available from the Gold Saucer for MGP as well.

The PvP could be better, but you can literally get 1500-2000 Wolf Marks a day just for doing a Frontline, plus another 1k if you do it 7 times a week from Challenge Log.

It's not hard to gather marks.


But if you want PvP Glamours being made available... Make old Feast Season glamour rewards available, either by MGP or Wolf Marks.

I don’t expect this to be a thing, but I wouldn’t mind some kind of random loot crate that you can buy with MGP.

If my retainer can bring me some PvP gear randomly, why not with MCP?

Though I would appreciate the loot crate being specific (like armor only, weapons only, another maybe older mounts..something like the 2.0 horses/3.0 birds)….and for the love of every god no fireworks or derp furnishings…

I welcome this idea. But at the same time this would be really bad for PVP. PVP is already lacking in rewards. This would completely kill any reason to do pvp outside of simply doing it. Especially considering MGP has not had enough rewards to counter how easy it is to obtain MGP.
