    Grand Company Squads

    Greetings everyone I have kinda a pet peeve and Question / Concern. I played a long time ago when max level was level 70 and even did all the MSQ to the point it said "To be Continued" and I am back I guess a glutton for Punishment. So I have a question to people and maybe Square Enix.

    I been doing a lot of leveling lately 5 level 80's atm (that I enjoy playing) and trying to make the rest level 60's and I have found leveling to be rough. So I started using Squads to learn my skills better and to not use the duty finder. Cause honestly I don't want to be a Tank or DPS that sucks so bad they have to be carried.

    An my Issue here is People pay a Sub for FFXIV and even if they buy stuff off the Mog Station that's like $25 USD and then there's Retainers which cost extra so I know they are making money off people.

    My Question is are they ever going to Fix the Grand Company Squads? Cause I myself am finding they are quiet stupid. My point being if you Que as a Tank and take a healer and 2 dps. Lets say they are all Rank 5 on their Battle Tactics they are still Stupid. I have done a LOT with them but to give you a example. Take the Dungeon Vault on the last boss when he summons the orbs around the room, the AI, Companions, Squad whatever you want to call them don't do the mechanics and yes before you all flaw me alive. I know there are limitations to programming and code so there is only so much you can do for them. But still it's not just that. Rank 5 Defensive which is "Suppose" to actually heal you doesn't and casting a heal when you have 200 life out of 2400 is NOT healing. But even if you set all 3 to Defensive like your conj and your arcanist you still won't be healed before you die.
    I have tried to Tank in the Best Gear and have a level 60 Conj Battle Tactic 5 on Defensive and still end up dead. So is there something I am missing? Or is this just how it is gonna be from now on? If it's not gonna be fixed or rather they don't feel the need to fix a broken system or actually maybe tweaking it so the AI does what it's suppose to. Then remove it completely like that did Shell and Protect. Or maybe just get rid of everything except a dedicated Healer that does NOTHING but HEAL. No STONE for them to cast No AERO. Just Cure, Cure II, Medica, Medica II and Ensuna and considering how stupid they are since they do 99% of the time stand in STUPID give them 100% resist to everything.
    Anyways just my thought but to be honest nothing will ever be done though I wish it would be since it shouldn't take much to fix the issue. Or at least sell the rights to people that will put ffvix on a Private server and ACTUALLY fix said Issues.

    The Squadrons are not broken. They are not supposed to do mechanics. You are supposed to command them to do mechanics using your buttons. You can command them to follow you, then run out of a mechanic. To help you out, they have buffs that allow them to survive mechanics.

    The trust system which we get at level 71 is similar but they do mechanics because they are their own people that are not commanded by you. This was the explanation we got for the difference in an interview.

    The squadron healers cannot be trusted when you're playing as a tank. They behave like the chocobo companions and won't actually begin casting heals until you're almost dead. It can make Wanderer's Palace (Hard) quite difficult with your squad as you need to rely on the healer to heal you to full for the final boss's Doom debuff to be removed. It's because of these reasons that I would suggest changing one of your DPS squadron members to an arcanist. They will do high AoE damage and will assist with healing. This makes it safer to do larger pulls.

    Also, the tactics do not change their behavior at all. You're better off changing everyone to offensive to help kill everything faster. The only possible exception would be tank squadron members. I preferred to set their tactics to balanced back when I was using command dungeons to level. The damage boost helps kill things faster, and the defense boost helps them survive the whims of the AI healer as you pull multiple packs.

    Finally, make frequent use of the commands. Use the Engage command to force them to focus on a specific target or to force the tank to pick up newly spawned adds. You can also use disengage command to pull them back to yourself to help them dodge the few mechanics which seem to bypass the resistance they have to AoE effects.

    If you don't care about the rewards and are simply using squad dungeons to quickly level your squadron members, then I would suggest going in as a healer. It is easy mode. You just spam engage on every single mob to quickly melt everything. Your squadron members do extremely high damage once you've leveled up offensive tactics, and the damage will be much higher than any party of real people once you've maxed it out.
