Begging for more "Adventurer" appropriate Glamour Gear

... so, yeah, I haven't been too keen on all the modern streetwear we've been getting.

To each their own, though, I'm not making this thread to bash the people who enjoy that kind of look, but instead to express my desire for more fantasy-oriented (yes, I know FFXIV is not strictly just fantasy) Glamour Gear (by which I mean lvl 1 All Classes), the kind of thing a roving adventurer might wear (not a weird sci-fi suit, Tataru...), a mix of cloth and metal, balancing protectiveness and practicality.

I'll go ahead and post some existing gear (ordered least to most armoured, by my estimation) I think matches my idea. Note that I'm not asking for these specifically, just using them to illustrate the kind of aesthetic I'm thinking of!









If we had even half as many of these at our disposal as we do the latest in street fashion, it would maybe even be feasible to give our character a "canon" look that's consistent across classes. I know I'd love to be able to do that, personally! What about you all?

Very nice sets. Are the all obtained in game, and what job(s) can wear them? Would you care to identify the pieces? I’m new to the game, have only dabbled in paladin and red mage so far, so am interested in checking out more glamour sets.

I am 100% behind this. I am a huge glam collector and realized something not too long ago, for all the amazing gear and pieces I've collected I have very few the would fit the rugged nature/look of someone whos travelling all over the word and get into fights, whether it be for loot or fighting bad forces. There are some, but I hope they keep adding them.

I feel like I can either look casual, or god - tier armor levels. I've had to go back to a lot ARR pieces if I ever want to look like just a normal traveler.

I really like this more "reasonable/low fantasy" look as well but I suspect given the reaction to the crystarium gear and some of the eden sets that it's not gonna be a very popular request. I do hope they keep making stuff like that for those of us that do like it, though!

On a related note I wouldn't mind getting derplanders outfit from the 1.0 cinematics as an all class outfit.

I do tend to prefer more "fantasy" designs as well but I'm not really sure the game is lacking in them. Sure they don't end up in the cash shop as the Next Big Promoted thing but quite a bit of dungeon gear, raid drop gear and tomestone gear very much still fits the "fantasy" vibe quite well. Even the Nier gear has some very traditional fantasy pieces mixed in, and I particularly love almost all of the Heirloom gear from Matoya's Relict.

They pivoted hard because it wasn't super popular. They seem to value 'glam diversity' in each expansion and do pretty well at it: Most expansions have, for example, some glams that let you go edgy, realistic fantasy, modern, tribal-esque, or 'fantasy punk.'

I would much rather they focus on glam diversity (and perhaps unlock jobs for glams save artifact gear), than to put focus on any one specific 'type' of glam for an expansion.

Well, you can't fight and run around all day without building some muscles, so the scrawny "adventurers" are more magically empowered chosen ones than adventurers. Cue the story about Hydaelyn's slaves, so the over the top clothing/armor sets are a perfect match.
