A warning to FFXIV players

I have seen a lot of people defending the mogstation recently because of comments made by people who came from WoW. With the recent mount that has come to the mogstation it's gotten even louder. Let me explain the reason they are upset and saying something because we've seen and heard it all before and most others have too if you've played a game in the last 4 years. This is a nudge they are gonna keep taking steps over the line to see how far they can move it. Being an ablest and going "oh its not as bad <insert comment about WoW token here" is missing the point entirely the cash shop in WoW used to be almost a mirror of yours now a few mounts and outfits and maybe a boost depending on when you were around. The WoW token is what happens when you just let companies keep taking steps over the line we didn't just start with a WoW token. WoW didn't start as a bad game, My advice is instead of going "omg WoW bad haha" and then proceeding to make the same mistakes we did in allowing blizz to not only go this far but also allow the ffxiv team to make the same mistakes is Honestly Idiotic. Wake up for a moment and realize what this mount represents and how far they've already gone. They arn't gods you shouldn't worship them they did good with their game but the cash shop is actually awful. The WoW token and other things in that shop are "Optional" too btw if you wanna have that mentality.

Yeah we are well aware Square Enix considers FF14 to be a big cash machine and this MMO is heavily monetized. They get away with it because the MMO does not suck. One or Two bad expansions and Square Enix will get Blizzard levels of hate.

The jump potions let people catch up to friends sooner, they don't get you to the end content, but just speed it up.

The mounts/outfit/emotes/music rolls have no impact on the game. It also gets the company a bit more money since they don't get all of the revenue from the game, and some of it is moved towards other parts of the company. Some of the items added were even Chinese Exclusive and MANY people wanted them. There's also items from past events, so while you can't get achievements from those events, you can still get a majority of the items.

Many items are also added because of enough people asking for them.

WoW allows players to buy stuff to sell inside of the game. XIV doesn't allow players to do that, and any sites you usually see that happening on is with a stolen account/ect

Plus any changes made to classes is pretty much for all content. Nothing like what WoW had where you worked on one item that changed how your class played (New skills or power ups) that became obsolete the next expansion. Items from previous expansions are glamours basically, and bragging rights.

I know you have your concerns, but you act like everything you say is going to happen, and this part reads like one of those people on the corner of the street screaming about the world endings and it's hard to take is with much seriousness...

I understand it sounds like that, I also understand that Yoshi is different for the most part however the reason I am confident in my statement there is because i've seen it in so many so many games nowadays and while ff doesn't have it now I can't help but feel like its just taking the same path all over again. Like watching a movie for the 20th time you see the twists being setup and you know its not going to be any different if that makes sense.

As for people buying jump potions to catch up to their friends I will reply to that with my stance on all forms of skips in games regardless of what someone buys them for they shouldn't be in a game cause what's the point of making a grind if you can skip it.
Thankfully leveling in FF is easy and fast for the most part.

The overall point of this post isn't to be a doomsayer or anything like that its mainly to point out my worries with the games based on the shit I've seen pulled with many other games I've loved and put many many hours into. It's out of love for this game more than anything else and not wanting it to turn out like WoW and some peoples comments make me anxious because it sounds very similar to what I've heard in the WoW community.

Because you already did it before? I have done the FULL MSQ all the way to the end TWICE.

As for WOW...yeah ugh...

I got Ashes of Alar after FIVE YEARS so dont anyone talk to me about grinds, Raven Lord took me four. Thats YEARS with an insanely low drop rate..which goes back to Blizzards "keep them paying and playing" metric.

There are 11 unique mounts and 6 unique outfits that have been added.

There are some chinese/Korean exclusive mounts, and recolors of in game obtainable mounts.

There are also some korean/chinese server exclusive sets that have been added by player request, and the NPC outfits.

That averages to less than 1 unique outfit and less than 2 unique mounts per year since the cash shop was added late 2014.
