Actually the US Marine Corps uses AV8, which are based on the British Harriers...but they are American built...

No, even though some gear from other companies might be more ideal, I like the uniqueness and sense of identity the Grand Company gears give.

Besides, it's hard enough to farm seals as it is.

There is already a black market vendor in place that sells a very select few items from other grand company for an increased price. No reason that can't be expanded upon.

Though the majority seem to be in favor of not going for that idea, I personally, would like to see it happen. XI did the same thing (inb4 "Stop trying to make it XI-2!!!") But you could purchase items that the NPC guards at the nations sold for I believe it was double the price if you werent allied to that particular nation. And as seals arent really a difficult thing to acquire anymore, its not as though it would really hurt.

There's also the idea that you need to be a higher GC rank than the item in question before you can buy it off the black market for inflated prices. It'd be a nice compromise between "let people buy other GC gear" and "GC gear should be unique." The newest gear would be restricted, but once it stops being the shiny new thing, people from other companies would be free to have it too. Think of it in the same vein as them making older content easier but also replacing it with new content, except with GC items instead of raid/primal items.
