A returning players thoughts on the community

To the OP: If you want to learn anything in-game as a returning player, the option to join the Novice Network (where those questions are expect, although perhaps not always answered) was presented to you when you first logged in. If you look for someone with the Mentor icon above them and ask, they may have time to add you.

Also, joining an FC, especially one of those that are shouted in chat in the cities that cater to 'new and returning players' would be in your interest.

I've made my point, and haven't been dishonest about any of it. Not my fault you don't want to hear it. lol If you wanted an echo chamber, that was never going to happen. You are free to have your opinions, obviously, but others are just as free to disagree with you.

oh so you had to get someone else involved because I called you out on your intellectual dishonesty...we are done here seems I cannot have actual honest dialogue when you and your friend are looking for a gotcha moment than having an actual dialogue. you two don't have any right to say anything when your:

A) By taking parts of what I say and purposely take it out of context. To fill a narrative for a gotcha moment that would make you look smart, If you were really that intelligent you would never have to break things up into sections that would make your point valid. That in itself is being intellectually dishonest with everyone in this thread.
B) after catching you being intellectually dishonest with me and others reading this thread you had to contact another person to get involved which shows you cannot handle an open honest dialogue with people who do not agree with you on your own. Goes to show even more you are not an intelligent person but dishonest as well.
C) said person you had come to help you then try to discredits what had happened to me with a dismissing comment "never happened to them in the 6+ yrs of playing" which in itself is being intellectually dishonest as well because if It never happened to them it never happens at all, which makes that statement invalid in this conversation and questioning validity of my claims when said person wasn't there in the first place which doesn't make her and authority of the situation in the first place.
D) your friend has no GM experience whatsoever in the statements she is making. Once again intellectual dishonesty and trying to create a gotcha moment instead of actual dialogue. you and your "friend" need to come up with actual intelligent dialogue and not try to make yourself look smart with hot take gotcha moments.

And the point I was trying to make remains intact. So yeah, you were and still are making some sweeping generalizations that don't quite fit the reality of the situation. I'm not defending the jerks. I never do. If things played out as you said then I'd say they were mostly in the wrong. But don't mistake the actions of a few for the actions of many. I didn't leave anything out, but I still feel like you might be.

Just for the record, you are taking this leaps and bounds farther than most people ever would. I had all but forgotten our disagreement. lol If you wish to insult me as much as you currently are, that's fine. I'm not playing that game though, since I never really was from the start.

I had my doubts and my questions and did not hesitate to voice those concerns. You wondered where I got those from, so I gave you the exact details as to why I was coming to my own conclusions or theories. Instead of addressing these concerns and putting things to rest, you got angry. Fast. And then you went on the attack, which raised more questions than answers. So yeah, I reacted and dug in my heels a bit to defend my position. Perhaps the both of us could have handled ourselves a little better, but ultimately that changes nothing now. What's done is done.

I also saw that someone was making a similar point and decided to quote them and agree with them. As far as I'm aware they aren't my friend. lol I just happened to agree with them. I agree with a few people here more often than not though, while butting heads with some others on various subjects. It just depends on the who and what. I do my best to get along with as many people as I can though, but I'm never going to get along with everyone. That's a simple fact of life. I am who I am. Some people like me, some don't. It is what it is. I am a lot of things, but I'm never dishonest.

Not much I can really do about all of that now though since I personally moved past this days ago, but I am giving you the courtesy of addressing what you said so there's no real unfinished business on my end. For what it's worth, I'm not angry myself. I think we would both benefit from walking away from this one. I know I did and will once again. I won't budge and neither will you, and there's not really anything else left for me to say that hasn't already been said. I really don't have the energy or desire to take this any further than I have already. Life's too short for this crap. As such, I will bow out of this thread. Good luck, have fun and stuff.

For future reference, if you want to converse some other time on these forums we can do just that. I don't hold grudges. If we were talking in another thread right now we could very well be having an entirely different debate with the complete opposite tone.

Honestly I'm kind of surprised that you ran into people like that on Jenova. We're generally pretty chill. Someone was returning and asked in shout chat the other night about dungeons they were missing and like 5 or 6 people were happy to help them out. I also often see rather entertaining conversations in Limsa shout chat.

If you were sending tells, then I can possibly see why someone may have felt weird about it. But shout chat is one of the best ways to get some help in the game on my server.

Actually, you may the one who is dishonest here. To this community and to yourself. There is a difference between what you said what happened and what actually happened.

I mean even if it did happen, The fact is that it bother you so much that you are willing to quit the game and act like the community is just like them. I don't know my guy, you are acting like the very same snowflake and thin skinned person you are calling out.


My advice would be just not care? If you can't get enjoyment out of anything like I do. Even the bad times. Just shrug and move on. I don't think anyone says this community is perfect, heck most of us know just by reading the forums. We got some...issues. If you let a few bad apples ruin the fun for you, than mmorpgs might not be for you.

People really need to stop making generalizations from just one or two encounters with few people like holy shit, the community itself is like millions strong and it's only an encounter among many more hundreds if not thousands if not million encounters with other people in this game.

People doing thing because of a reason. This reason may be illogical sometimes, but they dont do stuff out of nowhere. Action and reaction. Humans are that simple.

I m also not suprised that people acting like this. But I wonder why? What may happen that someone lost his mind after a simple question? That is the part, that is illogical to me.
