A returning players thoughts on the community

The community is the same as it has always been.



Never seen this or anything like it at all so I find it questionable. This seems like something silly to freak out over unless there were already riled up about something.



People have been like that at times in recent years, but that's not an FF XIV thing exclusively. That's an internet/societal thing.



Nope. The only constant I see in this scenario is you. There are bad apples in every community. Perhaps you had some bad luck. Or maybe it was your reaction to what others were saying. Either way, this is something we don't know definitively.

But there you go, proof.

point 1) when I left the game the community was still friendly towards one another and the elitist asshattery didn't infect the community yet there were a few bad apples and the community looked down on them.
Point 2) When I was reorientating myself back into playing this game I was asking legit questions if there were any significant changes to Limsa and other major cities. Players usually know better than a forum or patch notes as players are the ones interacting with the game.
point 3) I did say "hello miss I am a returning player" and just asked a few questions that were not hard to answer in my opinion if they were up to date on things and her first response was "do I know you?" and replied, "I am returning player most likely no" and was by how the person was typing with a lot of "..." that was my cue to stop talking to her and I did apologize for asking her a couple of questions. and I asked someone else who just said, "look at the patch notes" as this goes back to my answer to point 2.
Point 4) That is not a generalization when the statement of "Is this is how the community has become?" is because of that interaction with the person that had me dogpiled and falsely reported for asking them to kindly move. you left out the context of why I made that statement.

But I can understand why people are hesitant to talk to other players they do not know, because of cancel culture and such. People scared to interact with others will lead to more tribalism and a breakdown of the community. People need to push themselves and stop being afraid to interact with others, I myself will continue to interact with others regardless of who they are, I will continue being a friendly, positive person in the community that people will hopefully not be afraid to talk to.

And the point I was trying to make remains intact. So yeah, you were and still are making some sweeping generalizations that don't quite fit the reality of the situation. I'm not defending the jerks. I never do. If things played out as you said then I'd say they were mostly in the wrong. But don't mistake the actions of a few for the actions of many. I didn't leave anything out, but I still feel like you might be.

What I was saying was people just need to relax a bit and not be so uptight about things, I asked questions first in-game to the community because I didn't know if any changes came about when I was gone and had no ill intentions whatsoever. Also, it's not low skill when asking a question, when I don't legitly know something it's better to ask a question than being ignorant and uninformed which is why I ask questions. Now if that means me asking a question equates to being a low-skilled player which isn't logical.

I think that you missed the point of what I was saying and need to read it again.
I was agreeing with you on this one point that it's a case when '' the community '' feels like it's very uptight.
People act like if you try and help anyone with anything gameplay related that it's a crime against humanity and like you're putting a gun to their head and forcing them to play a certain way.
There's like zero tolerance for helping someone unless they ask for it, but a lot of people don't even know that they're doing something wrong so they don't know to ask.

Maybe some people have not gotten the message but you can be banned for being rude. That guy blocking the retainer bell I got someone banned for something very similar not even a month ago.

You people need to stop giving these fools the attention they are seeking. If they are rude and being a prick for no reason then they are getting reported and I am informing them they are getting reported. Tell them to be rude to a GM when they get they are in jail.

When you are mixing two interactions (my original post and the interactions with the troll) into one subject as an attempt to confuse not only me but others reading this at a failed attempt at a gotcha moment. That's being intellectually dishonest with me and others reading this, the troll has nothing to do with the points you yourself pointed out. You left out the context to the statement I made at the end of my OP in point 4 of my response. Stick to what you pointed out sir, then we might have some actual dialogue and not a gotcha moment to make yourself look smart.

Am I the only one who finds OPs post a bit suspicious? I believe that OP may not telling the full truth here or missing out important parts... .

I asked a question bout something to another player and they freaked out when I asked a legit question about how many aetherrite shards are there in Limsa since I didn't know if they increased the amount, or I if saw a cool outfit people are wearing.

I never experienced something like that in my 6-7 years. What kind of player is freaking out because of a simple question? You are sure, you not missing out something?

mins later a GM asked me what had happened and I told the GM what I said in chat and to check the chat log file as well to verify what I said. I was about to get a temp ban for 2 people who tried to false flag me for no reason...

What kind of GM is about to give a temp ban for 2 false reports? They can check whats written in the chat and if a GM is calling you, you may be not THAT innocent... .

I've made my point, and haven't been dishonest about any of it. Not my fault you don't want to hear it. lol If you wanted an echo chamber, that was never going to happen. You are free to have your opinions, obviously, but others are just as free to disagree with you.
