FF14 has an amazing community!

I've been playing for about a month now and I have to say that I've really enjoyed being around the community! Comparing all of the community aspects to World of Warcraft and I can easily say that the experience is much nicer! I have been through several dungeons/raids and have not seen one rude player and the only time I see the vote kick option being used is to kick AFK players. Even the forums are pretty amazing and helpful when needed and I really do like it! Does anyone else have similar thoughts on the community, or would it just be me being new

I've been around a lot of mmorpg communities and this one is definitely up there in terms of being overall pleasant. Welcome to FFXIV btw!

I wouldn't call it amazing or the best but it can be among the better ones unless you talk bad about the game.

It all has to do with great game, operational, and philosophy design.
As I always say, a game that makes you want to help other people that is a true mmorpg. We have enough games that pit players against players all the time in every aspect and system of the game, XIV got it right.

Part of the reason this community may be slightly more pleasant than others is simple, it's not PvP heavy. That style of gameplay can sometimes bring out the worst in people, simply because there's always winners, and with that, come losers. You can delve further into the forums here and check out parser threads to see just how far this community is capable of devolving. Regarding WoW compared to FF14, yeah, it's night and day. Just check out their General forums... it's like a bunch of ten year old kids arguing.

It is good because the developers enforce the rules and people who are easily upset, or get annoyed because someone is not playing as well as they want them to do...are scared to speak in game, because they get punished. So the overall quality of the game and community is much better for everyone.


It is pretty nice, but the downside is on social media, the "cult" is very much a thing, and if you say anything bad about the game. Oh boy. Lmao

Depends on where (Reddit & Twitter are not), but in-game it's indeed nice !
I remember I was new to the first NieR raid and a player explained me all the tactics kindly. He was really helpful.

Ya, sad thing is. It is a very small part of the community, but they are so loud that it feels like it is not.

They are the greatest shame of the community. lmao

There are a lot of reasons for it.

• We don't choose a side (such as a grand company) and fight the other grand company. They are all friends.
• Required content is easy and has no enrage.
• One good player can carry the entire group in required content.
• The are no DPS trackers in the game so most people don't use them and judge eachother.
• You get rewarded with tomestones, experience or WT second chance points when it's someone's first time. It benefits you to have a person who doesn't know what they are doing.
• There is a commendation system which makes you think about what each party member did well, instead of what they did wrong.
• There is a sprout and returner icon, which instantly explains why someone doesn't know what they are doing. They also view cut scenes on their first time.
• You can actually report rude behaviour.
• The game appeals to a wider variety of people, including casuals and people who have never played an MMO so they are not coming into the game with this endgame high-DPS focus.
