    New Player Questions

    Hi

I am a fairly new player and as a class I have Arcanist (level 30) and also Fisherman, Botanist and Chef (This is an overstatement) in Ragnarök

    The questions:
    • What is better to follow up Summoner or Scholar? Originally I thought Scholar but looks it can be a really challenging for someone discovering the game. Is Summoner a bit easier and manageable?
    • Whats the best way to find an FC?, personally I find it really chaotic right now (even using the ingame and the we tool). Personally I am looking for a casual, friendly one. In my case I am not into big raids or high end, I am more of a Frodo type, just the Journey .

    Welcome to Eorzea!

ACN is a unique class in that it upgrades to two Jobs, not one, and both Jobs share the same EXP so if you level one you're actually levelling both at the same time - the only thing you need to do seperately is the Job quests for each. So if you choose one and don't like it, you can easily switch to the other and try that at the same level. SMN is a bit more closer to ACN though, in that it is still magical DPS, and revolves around it's summons inflicting massive damage on the enemy - your Carbuncles upgrade to Egi Primals, and later, you gain Demi Primals as well. SCH on the other hand, changes role to healer, and your Carbuncles become fairies which help with healing and defense. And yes, if you haven't played as a healer before it can be challenging at times. Personally I'd say go with SMN and give SCH a try if you feel bored or wanting a change, as you can easily switch back whenever you feel like!

As for getting a FC, many advertise publically in shout in the game, but those can often be very big and crowded and run to more "Ask not can we do for you, what can you do for us" sort of mentality. Often the best thing to do is to just talk to people in game (as in, those just standing around in the cities but not shouting), as often they will be happy to invite you to a FC or linkshell (LS). Another way you could try is to check out the forum section for your server (in your case, Ragnarok), and have a look at FCs that are open to new invites, as you'll often find casual FCs in there -take note of their contact details and seek out their representative from there.

And there is nothing wrong with being a casual player and not wanting to rush to end game - you are definetely right in that it's the journey is just as important as the destination!

You can search for a free company at https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...munity_finder/

You can try doing a /shout at Limsa asking for one.

You can ask anyone with a crown icon to invite you to the Novice Network, which is a chat where experienced players answer questions from new and returning players. It's been full sometimes lately, but hopefully there will be room if enough logged out.

It largely depends on what role you want to play. Summoner remains a DPS while Scholar becomes a healer. And in a sense you don't really have to choose because both level up at the same time (being tied to the same beginner class, this is unique to them). The only things you gotta do separately is their individual job quests and their gear (right now there may just be unified caster gear, but eventually you get both caster and healer gear which are very separate, same with their books).
