Those are my favourite moogles in the whole series! I wished for years that we'd get them as a playable race, or at least put them in this game somewhere. I guess we'll be getting those loporrits though, so close enough.
Well, let's see...
Highlander Hyur are sometimes insulted as being half Roe, so I assume that half-Roe, half-Hyur offspring look somewhat similar to that, perhaps with green or red tinted skin? I know it's just a racist insult sorta thing, cause Midlanders are jelly of Highlander Beef, but I figure that it comes from somewhere as most stereotypes and biases do have origins in something from the reality of a situation.
Anything half Roe probably gets larger and more muscular with a possibility for strange skin colors. A half roe half Au Ra might be pretty dang interesting. Larger with Highlander like musculature and broader facial features, but still has scales and horns. Less scales, but more beef.
I guess from the Au Ra mixing that we know about that things like horns for ears is dominant over Hyur ears, so it's likely that any mixing between Hyur and anything with different ears results in the different ears but in a reduced form. Hard to imagine what's dominant over what between like... Au Ra mixing with Viera or Miqote, though.
I'd say the hierarchy for ear dominance goes something like Au Ra Horns > Bunny Ears > Cat ears > Elf ears > Hyur ears. Tails there's no precedent for, but I'd guess that a scaled tail would go hand in hand with the horns. But I mean, there's always a chance for the recessive traits to manifest anyway, so there's all sorts of way hybrids could turn out.

"I thought that my invincible power would hold the world captive, leaving me in a freedom undisturbed. Thus night and day I worked at the chain with huge fires and cruel hard strokes. When at last the work was done and the links were complete and unbreakable, I found that it held me in its grip." - Rabindranath Tagore
Those are just FFIV Namingways/Hummingways (which are not moogles at all) with a different name. Moogles have bat-like wings and a pom-pom on their heads (although FFVIII's Minimog lacked that), which the Namingways (and the Loporrits) have neither, and the Namingways/Loporrits are just anthropomorphic lunar bunnies and really have nothing to do with lalafell either.
But given the Ivalice games' obsession with rabbits I can sort of understand why players would think Loporrits have an Ivalician moogle link (I'd once heard a joke made a long time ago about FFXII that it was made "by rabbits, about rabbits, for rabbits" due to the amount of rabbit-like races in that game. But I digress.).![]()
I was more implying they look like what a cross between a Viera and a Lala would be. Tiny bunnyperson. Those are just FFIV Namingways/Hummingways (which are not moogles at all) with a different name. WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?
Maybe, but I have heard without a citation that apparently when a mixed race union does manage to produce offspring, the child's apparence resembles the mother more closely than the father, so I think a viera/lalafell child would be very short, but nowhere near as short as a lalafell usually, especially if the mother is a viera.
Also, viera are not hairy, so they'd basically be a taller lalafell with short hairy ears that look like bunny ears... but on the sides of their heads. But this is all just my speculation so make your own conclusions on that.![]()
Based on what I remember at least, something I like about FFXIV is that racism isn't the same as in '' current day '' irl where it's just purely based on skin color. We already know at least two in the game (or at least hyur crossed with another race):
Hilda, who is mixed midlander hyur/wildwood elezen
And Arenvald, who is mixed highlander hyur/pureblood Garlean
And sadly both were treated utterly poorly by their families for their mixed heritage, as offspring of such unions are lore-wise usually treated as pariahs and shunned by society. ; ;
There was also a story about a former Ruby Princess of Shui of the Violet Tides who was half raen aura/half midlander hyur and she apparently resembled a normal au ra, but completely lacked scales, apparently.
As for other mixed race offspring, they are unknown, the only ones shown are hyur mixed with another race.
I can't remember Hyur with different skin color for example being racist towards each other BECAUSE of that alone ( usually it's due to nationality and culture, which are not inherently tied to skin color ).
The whole oversimplification of racism just being about the color of your skin is a very modern rewrite of it historically based mostly on the history of the US and I kinda find it a bit boring in narratives too.
Europe as well as the rest of the world fought wars/ world wars ( still being fought in many countries ) not just based on religious differences but also because people didn't view themselves as the same just because of skin color it has never been that simple.
Even in the US Scandinavians for example weren't even considered '' white '' in the beginning, the whole concept of color and race in that regard is VERY recent.
FFXIV has a more historical attitude towards it in the writing where it isn't so oversimplified.
Mixed races are a more interesting take on that because of how much more drastic the differences are.
With fictional races they're separated on a much more fundamental level.
