Welcome to Eorzea!
Tbh I feel very disillusioned by Western games in general, they feel so stale to me nowadays.
FFXIV still feels like how games felt when I was a kid, the Japanese just keep putting out great games that feel alive and diverse.
Because they're happy.
Indeed, I love sharing my experiences with other people to maybe inspire som other people to try out other games (Like ffxiv) if they got burned out from the game they played. I not only post here to share my experience but also talk to my friends about ffxiv.
How dare they be happy and share feedback on a forum meant for discussing the game and sharing feedback!
In all seriousness though, I'm glad you are enjoying yourself OP. I hope that continues.
Welcome to Eorzea!
I didn't say they can't be happy about the game lol
It just get tiresome to see all these threads pop up every time a new player joins. Cool you enjoy the game but do everyone need to know you came from wow? Nor is it really disussing that you joined the game. They already have the metrics etc.
inb4 "yOu DoN't HaVe To ClIcK oN tHe ThReAdS" lol
It's funny you say that because on the WoW forums they say, "Why does every new FFXIV player feel the urge to make a post about quitting WoW?" If you'd played WoW as long as many of us have, you'd understand the relief that comes with finding a good MMO that allows you to play the way you want. Making the full time switch from WoW to FFXIV is like finally leaving an abusive relationship. This game doesn't have the sense of dread that comes with knowing that the minute too many people start having fun with any given activity, it's almost certain to be wrecked, if not taken away completely. Examples include:
- Flying makes the game feel too relaxing. We want players to experience a sense of danger wherever they go, so we're disabling flying in every new zone.
- The big cities feel dead, so we're removing most of the portals from the game and consolidating them in the big cities. The portal that used to go to the major Pandaren city, however, is being completely removed because we incorrectly claim that it's redundant with the portal that takes you to the first quest hub in Pandaria. Enjoy going AFK for two minutes each time you want to visit the major Pandaren city for your faction while your character sits on the taxi.
- Players gear too quickly, and then they get bored with the game. We're imposing additional time gates everywhere to better control the rate of gear acquisition.
- Gearing through dungeons was too easy, so we're destroying the gear quality in dungeons and adding a timer that you can beat to enable harder dungeons with better gear.
- High end raiders are spending too much time optimizing the additional systems that we're constantly introducing each patch, so we're adding a new currency called conduit energy that effectively limits the number of changes you can make to your setup per week.
- Players are requesting tier sets, but we're not giving them those for reasons. Instead we're adding a new type of socket that randomly attaches to gear to give you those tier effects. YMMV because it may attach to and item that fits in your your legendary gear slot, requiring you to purchase a new copy of the legendary that you spent weeks grinding out last patch for a different gear slot.
- Players want a return of the Valor Point system that lets you purchase end game gear from a vendor using a Valor Point currency. So we're bringing Valor Points back, but you can't purchase gear with them. Instead, you use them to upgrade the gear that is only available in the timed dungeons, and in order to maximize its potential, you have to clear a certain number of those timed high end dungeons.
That's not a complete list, but you should get the idea from that.

sounds like some of you just take playing mmorpg games way to serious if you equate it to leaving a abusive relationship.
I've played wow and still are playing both wow and ff14 since years ago. If I ever quit either game you won't see me making posts about it - I'll just move on.
