    Need help making some gil

Hi, new player here. I recently hit level 80 and completed the shadow-bringers quest, but I seem to be stuck because my gear is level 420ish. I am hoping to get some tips on how to earn some gil so I can purchase some gear. The level 80 gear on the market board will cost me 1.5 million gil which is more than I have.

Some background info: I only have one class at 80 (lancer), my hand/land professions are below level 20, the market board on my server is pretty bad atm, and I do not really know anyone (at all) at this time.

I have looked up some guides but thus far the market for stuff purchasable with grand company seals has tanked and the materials for leveling professions are very expensive so I do not see myself being able to level crafting professions.

Should I just give up on making gil and wait for some catch up gear caches when the next expansion releases? I could really use some help here because it is really not fun being stuck at a low item level.

Firstly, you don't ever need to buy gear from the market board. You can instead earn gear from quests, duties, and other direct methods. In fact, the best gear must be earned rather than purchased.

Tomestones of Revelation, earned mostly by participating in Level 80 duties, can be used to purchase Item Level 520 gear that can be upgraded to 530. The latest dungeon drops 505 gear directly; the latest alliance raid drops 520 gear directly. The latest normal raids yield 510 gear. The relic quests yield 535 weapons and 525 gear. And so forth.

As for how to earn gil anyway, though, retainer ventures often yield valuable items. And combat duties as described above also reliably yield gil. Just enjoy playing the game, and both gil and gear shall ensue.

Level the crafting together with the gathering classes so you won't need to buy materials, you just gather them yourself and sell any extra stuff you don't need.
For endgame money anything that takes time to get might be worth something, like the hair unlocks in bozja. That place is unique in that it can sync your item level up if you are in low gear, and you can eventually farm some gear there.

You can get 430 gear free at The Tempest upon completing the first level 80 main story quest. The person you show the crystal to also sells free gear.

You can get item level 490 gear by exchanging the Allegory you get from dungeons at Eulmore.

You can get item level 520 gear by exchanging the Revelation you get from dungeons at Eulmore.

You can obviously use what gil you do have to exchange for item level 510 gear from the market board.

You can do eden 1-12 and exchange the items you loot at Eulmore for gear, particularly the bangles for accessories and a belt.

You can loot item level 460 gear from the first alliance raid, 490 from the second alliance raid and 520 from the third alliance raid.

Mixing that gear you are probably high enough to continue the main story. You can loot gear from dungeons. The latest main story dungeon drops 505 gear so any gear you didn't manage to upgrade from doing the other things you can use some of the dungeon loot to get you up.

You can make a lot of money by purchasing stacks of the most expensive crafting materials with allegory tomestones. Using a retainer to sell these can build get you 100,000 to a million gil and help you reach what you need.

Thanks for the help. I managed to scrap together some gear via various methods.

The way the main quest scenario is setup, you need to reach a certain item level to progress past a certain point. I think it is item level 460. At the time of my last post I was unable to queue for level 80 dungeons and was confused. The 430 gear just was not enough of an item level boost.

By various means I managed to scrap together enough gear to continue. Mostly from buying gear off the market board since I was not acquiring very many tomestones of allegory.
