Its worth noting that since its easier now there will be some more crafters. So the difficulty in HQ should keep the rate of them down. Theoretically yah its harder to make them but the profit margin should stay the same (assuming your selling if not GOOD LUCK).

Also I love the updates. My friend who had alchemy for hands of the gods is less happy because its not super busted anymore. Circumstances i suppose, Ive been having better luck overall since my ability spread is now better than before.

But seriously, use food, get Guild Company Crafting ring; gloves (Great for DoL too); hat; pants. Take your time on the big synths and things should reward you nicely.

I've been crafting all day trying to level up Weaver, Armorer, Leatherworker, Goldsmith. I'm only about level 20 in each. I am beginning to get used to the new system. It is easier for items under your level, and gets progressively more unstable the higher above your level you get. The new abilities at my level are pretty much useless. I have found I can try higher levels than before and sometimes am successful with 800-900 experience points for the effort. It is different. Takes a whole new approach. It isn't as bad as I first thought and I think I will get to like it about the time SE changes it again in December.

For any new crafters, getting to 10 Blacksmith for Maker's Muse is recommended. 3 guaranteed success Standard Synths is pretty helpful. Aside from that, anything that guarantees success on next action is useful. Just remember that Rapid Synth only gives you a lot of progress if you get "Great" success with it, but any success with it doesn't use durability. Also, remember that Standard uses around 12-15 durability no matter what, whereas Careful uses around 8-10.

Any abilities that "Advance Progress" or recover durability are also really nice for completing tough synths.

As your gear and abilities get better (do you have limited slots at low levels or are they all unlocked on lower level crafting classes?) you can try putting on some quality abilities for better XP gains.

Currently for my crafts I'm opening with Determination (150% progress boost) and Standard Synth, usually getting to 50-60 Progress, followed by Byragot's Blessing stacked with 125% quality abilities. Sometimes I can get 200+ Quality in 1 action, my highest was 350ish.

The elemental Brands are also really useful for any higher-level synths as they clear ALL destabilization and getting rid of the matching element gives you 100 quality, 20 quality for non-matching.

Wasn't there some hint dropped by Yoshi or the devs that crafting would be instant if you wanted to just mass produce? I mean I know Hasty Hand is there, but I was thinking like, Select Recipe -> Hit something like "Standard Craft" -> *Bang Boom Saw Hiss* -> Item get. And if you wanted the bonus EXP and a chance at HQ you'd go the current route.

Or a way to mass produce a large quantity at once for minimal EXP. Like taking all your Cotton Bolls and converting them to Cotton Thread. To me that's what Hasty Hand should do instead of one at a time. But I understand that this isn't something the current server engine can handle. I'm looking at 2.0.

Still though, for what it is right now, it's vastly improved from even FFXI crafting standards.

I think the "instant success" was probably just the hasty hand fix (which is amaaaazing btw). Hopefully the "mass production" is something coming in 2.0, since it would be nice to do a bunch of mats at once.

With the New Hastey Hands you can make a stack of just about anything in less than 5 mins with no risk. I think thats fast enough personally.

So don't bother with gear that has your stat melded to it (such as dex for mh GSM), at least for the higher level crafts? Is anyone noticing a difference stacking gear with your quality stat? I've had melded gear since before the patch and it's all i have so haven't tested without it yet.

Also, did you use all HQ mats for that synth?

I've noticed a difference on how much Quality you get per action when wearing appropriate melded gear/rings, it's helped immensely when XPing.
