^ This.
People need to stop complaining and just learn the new system. I was pissed, then i switched up my abilities and tried out my usual high level HQ recipes for about an hour or so, and now i can HQ everything again with no problem whatsoever. It's much faster, much more entertaining, and is a just plain better system than the old one.
For those saying "Oh you have level 50's", "lowbies and new people get screwed"... That's about as dumb as it gets. I would rather have leveled all my crafts to where they are now with this new system, than the old one I grinded through. New players and mid level crafters now have the added convenience of no timer, abilities that actually work, about 30% faster overall synthing... The list goes on and on.
Not to mention the fact that XP is all but BROKEN. I was gettin 2-3K a synth at LV43 WVR on recipes 2 levels or more BELOW me. If you cant knock out levels 1-40~ now, you sure as hell wouldn't want to a year ago. The only thing that was nerfed is Hand of the Gods, and it needed to be. Now people actually can tailor their abilities to what they're making, instead of leveling ALC to 36 just for HotG and using it for every synth. Awesome job SE. Srsly.

The changes will take some adjusting to.
It will be nice to make the various skills a little more unique though.
At the moment we have quite a few duplicated skills....
Rather than having 2 x +125%/1 turn skills, perhaps make one +100% with +25% action success or something.
Especially now that we can only use 5.

It's a goddamn russian roulette right now for me. I have one craft at 50 and one at 42 and this system promotes having all r45 abilities. Sorry, but that's true. And it's plain stupid.
I can't imagine being a fresh crafter.

It promotes the "level all your damn crafts" ethos.
At one time someone that had a high level craft was sought out and was useful, but not in today's crafting version. Crafting is a crock, some of us didn't have this super high garbage exp that people get now a days, we had fatigue, really low exp, and spent the better part of a year ranking them all to 50, and it meant something. Now everyone can rank up real fast and that made crafting worthless, only thing it's good for now is to repair your own gear.

Crafting to repair your own gear sounds about right. That is what I am doing at level 24. I was level 17 Goldsmith yesterday but I needed to repair a helmet so I leveled up to 24 at about 1 level per 2 hours. As a low level crafter I think the old system was more fun... but I may change my mind when I get these high level abilities everyone is talking about. lol
Its worth noting that since its easier now there will be some more crafters. So the difficulty in HQ should keep the rate of them down. Theoretically yah its harder to make them but the profit margin should stay the same (assuming your selling if not GOOD LUCK).
Also I love the updates. My friend who had alchemy for hands of the gods is less happy because its not super busted anymore. Circumstances i suppose, Ive been having better luck overall since my ability spread is now better than before.

I've been crafting all day trying to level up Weaver, Armorer, Leatherworker, Goldsmith. I'm only about level 20 in each. I am beginning to get used to the new system. It is easier for items under your level, and gets progressively more unstable the higher above your level you get. The new abilities at my level are pretty much useless. I have found I can try higher levels than before and sometimes am successful with 800-900 experience points for the effort. It is different. Takes a whole new approach. It isn't as bad as I first thought and I think I will get to like it about the time SE changes it again in December.
/random trolling
Hold Dat
But seriously, use food, get Guild Company Crafting ring; gloves (Great for DoL too); hat; pants. Take your time on the big synths and things should reward you nicely.
