We all know about the Bard tool that I think is neat, but one other tool that I talked a friend into using, being he is disable like myself, but far worse. That is...

Voice Attack. and it is pretty neat.


It pretty much lets you use your voice to hit a key for you. I find it slower than my muscle memory myself. It really is a god send for people like him who can put his offense and defense cooldowns on it, and that saves him some button presses. That adds up, in longer gaming sessions.


It took me a long time to find something to help him, and I tested it myself. It is pretty fun, but I made the mistake to name my defensive key moves after famous anime stuff. And my nephew heard me yell Bankai 3 times because I have a classical southern accent and I've not trained windows 10 to understand me.. So it not only sounded funny to him, but alexa kept saying. Sorry I don't know that. So I can't use it.

I do callouts for my FC, and one of the players needs me to shout ARM'S LENGTH whenever I call it's time to pop knickknacks immunity.
I wonder if software like this wouldn't hear me shout the callout over Discord and have all of their systems automatically hit Arm's Length for them...

That would be very neat. From a former raid leader point of view. That could be kinda fun, yell out and the program hears you and everyone does a defensive. I know many raid fights when I call out for cds and people don't use them. Lol

Though, then you'd have the problem of those players who don't have the app wanting the command shouted with enough warning to hit it normally (or, worse, at the end of the cast they just started). With only a 6s duration, you'd have to be awfully precise, so optimizing it on back-to-back immunities in the few fights that have such wouldn't then be possible. /shrug

...Regardless, I'm pretty sure someone else causing actions for your character would have more than breeched the grey area for the ToS, as one player can thus affect multiple clients.

I imagine it would also probably cause them to hit buttons when they're not ready to. I can see it causing clipping and screwing with rotations and mucking up how skills queue.
Like, there are plenty of reasons why my idea shouldn't be done... but I still wonder if it could, ya know?

I dunno. I mean if someone shouted arms length over discord and it popped it for you. A clipped gcd is always going to be better than death by being knocked off the arena..

Voice input isnt a new thing I wouldn't even consider it a grey area. It's just another control interface. Perhaps usefull for disabled gamers and stuff I dunno. A friend of mine lost half an arm and leg as well damaged an eye in the military years back. so he has some pretty decent gadgets that let him play games. an eye tracker that puts the mouse curser whereever he looks. a customised joystick with foot pedals and what looks like a drum kit. but is just 6 big buttons he can bash with his arm. and does also use voice commands in some games. it works really well for him he's even cleared ultimates,

The third party thing in general is a grey area though. As it covers so much stuff. if they were that strict on there thrid party policy he'd be unable to play because many of his devices require dedicated software to use.

but like many gamers I use logitech set point to create custom binds / macros on my mouse buttons. And something similar called control centre to control the gaming keys on my keyboard. And then also use steams advanced xbox elite drivers to remap the paddles on my elite controller. So I map the paddles to anything I like. I can press 1 paddle Get off my mount at a fate trigger level sync and go. if i chose to i could create a macro put it on one of my gkeys and have 1 button craft key. press it once and wait while it crafts me 99 hq cordials for my DoL in a single keypress. and thats just my keyboard software that does its rgd and keybind profiles etc.

It's all technically 3rd party prograns.

I also wonder if you also couldn't set it up so any player could shout "Rescue [your name]" as a way to basically let people teleport to their cleric.

Oh, that is 100% true.
I was just thinking that the game always gives us enough time to hit it that we can typically weave it in smoothly.
Instead of my callout giving people a heads up that they should weave the knock back cooldown in their next GDC or two if my voice mashes that command for someone...
But you're absolutely right. For people that wouldn't hit it otherwise it would only be a gold thing.
