The New Sage Icon, Thoughts?

The original poster themselves stated they don’t have the phobia so i’m curious why you think it’s false.

iirc he had another post where he didnt mention that, but i guess he does. Thanks for the proof dunno why you didnt just post that originally lmao.Still though, if you can find posts from the NA or EU forum before this incident id be very interested, cuz as of right now it just seems like another jp exclusive thing.

Yes.. the dev team that literally was willing to make their entire server upgrade plans and failings public knowledge as well as apologizing for things that were impossible to control..

So while we may have OTHER icons (on entirely optional jobs that are not MSQ-linked content BTW) that could be a problem.. what reason would they have to lie about changing it? Extremely minor PR? Yup.. they totally need that right now. Yup. Most played MMORPG in the world needs PR while their competition is literally doing their best not to get cancelled.

Great. Ask the developers. Feedback isn't always on forums, or twitter or even public social media. When complaining about something , especially something personal that causes an aversion, most people are pretty tentative about putting that out there as public knowledge. Did you see what someone did IN THIS THREAD? "oh lol you think lots of holes is gross?" *posts a revamped sage icon with the most holes possible*.. yeah.. that's the internet!

I'm not a dev so I couldn't specifically say.. but I would guess that once there were complaints about it it had been in game for too long and is side-content that doesn't need to be engaged with to play the glut of the game. Also as mentioned there's not a whole lot of "letherworker" merch. Discipline of the hand jobs aren't exactly a focus in presentation and marketing for this game. I'll eat my words when the derplander intro movie has him flash change into tailor AF and hold his shining new relic needle up.

Fact of the matter is it really is strange how there’s numerous things in game that are trypophobia triggers, yet people haven’t complained about it until now.

When 14 is at its peak and sage is the new shiny thing that has everyone’s attention. There are just too many things that don’t add up. along with the random PR move.

FFXIV right now is probably at the BEST PR position it has been in years. New players lauding the experience left and right, a large streamer praising them for their fast reactions to the people harassing them, a recent fanfest that is still getting exposure for the dedication and emotional bond between the staff AND the community.

Why try to milk it so hard with one change?

.. Look. Do we gotta get pedantic? we aren't going on any dates or anything or going to family dinners but can you agree there is a large population out there that feels highly emotionally invested in the devs and the devs SEEM very emotionally invested in the game and players?

...and a large number of people are emotionally invested in the likes of McDonald's. I'm not here to police what people like or dislike, though I expect the respect in turn for people to agree to disagree rather than attack people for not blindly worshipping the development team for every last little gesture that they indulge in.

Some people will take such gestures at face value, others will be more sceptical. I think both stances are perfectly acceptable. Just like how some people will prefer the original icon, others are indifferent and yet more have a preference for the new one.

All different groups can co-exist, though personal attacks and insults need to be left at the door.
