this should be the main take away for most people if they want something changed: switch to any JP DC, autotranslate your complaints and get it upvoted and you have a decent chance of it happeningI think one of the other things to think about is this change does nothing to lessen the perception that the Japanese playerbase is listened to more than anyone else.
Because there have been loads of things brought up on other forums but it seems that the devs only really address issues that come from the Japanese forums.
While I can understand that it's a much easier change, I'm still godsmacked that this was an accessibility change while they continued to make the Nier Alliance Raids the most eye-straining experience possible well after having to change the brightness of Mt Gulg for the same reason.
Just someone’s opinion i thought was interesting on Reddit
“The only part that disappoints me is how Square is willing to actually accommodate for their Japanese playerbase. They give almost no shits about the EN playerbase.
For instance, the US had about twice the rate of epilepsy of Japan in 2016. And people, myself included, have complained about the absolutely awful implementation of lightning and flashing effects in this game, such as Alphascape V3.0. To memory, there is one mandatory solo instance in Stormblood where lightning was so bad that I took a minute to take a break in the middle, and I'm not even close to the level of sensitivity of other photosensitive people. I'm only to the extent of my brain saying, "hey, that's a little uncomfortable".
The only time we've gotten adjustment is with the third NieR raid, which had countless reports, and articles upon articles by multiple news outlets about genuine episodes. And it was only minorly adjusted. Literally the only way to get Square to react to anything that happens in EN is to force their hand and make it completely untenable for them to proceed.”
Gotta say i agree with this.

I don't think I've ever had a problem with either one of those instances being too bright since they've been out. Not calling foul on anyone, just never knew that was a problem. While I can understand that it's a much easier change, I'm still godsmacked that this was an accessibility change while they continued to make the Nier Alliance Raids the most eye-straining experience possible well after having to change the brightness of Mt Gulg for the same reason.

There were a couple of threads on here when Tower came out, but a few friends and I (who are equally visually impaired in different ways) joke about how getting Tower is the real dead que. I have trouble seeing values of similar hues so all of Copied Factory looks like this to me:
The noise was loud enough for the original Mt Gulg, which was a very similar thing to Tower currently. They dimmed it and corrected values on textures to where it is now good for most everyone. I now have a special mode in reshade to use if Tower pops, since it's a brightness more so than a value issue, that turns everything a dark purple.

I haven't been on here in about a year and a half so I missed those threads, but that is interesting, thank you for clarifying. There were a couple of threads on here when Tower came out, but a few friends and I (who are equally visually impaired in different ways) joke about how getting Tower is the real dead que. I'm not photosensitive but Mt Gulg when it came out was just blindingly bright. I couldn't see the ground AoEs half the time because of it. I still have trouble on some of them. For truly photosensitive people, it was a nightmare.
Do not remind me of that horror. I could barely do anything when it was like that, I got hit by almost everything because I could not see the AoEs.

I feel ya. I tried to avoid that dungeon like the plague because of the same thing. I still have issues when tanks big pull to the demon walls because the line AoEs still blend in for me as well as AoEs on the final boss. I've gotten it three times in recent weeks and had to apologize to my party each time when I just ate things without realizing it. But it was just awful when it first came out. May as well have spent my entire run on the floor for all the good it did trying to dodge.

While the change is so minor to something im barely gonna pay any attention to, it does point out if your in JP or the JP forums you have 1000x more chance of getting a fix then EN. I feel bad for the other small languages that don't get the same treatment as JP because EN have a large enough playerbase to force SE on severe issues. Pretty sure you could start an organ...
