why is the download speed so slow

I logged out of the game last night and it did not close, just stayed on full screen black and I could not get it to close at all to access my computer so I hard reset the computer. then when I tried to reopen the game the launcher would not open. so I uninstalled the game and now I am reinstalling it.

speedtest says I get 64 MBPS of download speed but the game is downloading at 9MBPS and will take three hours. how do I make it download at the appropriate speed that I am capable of?

Speedtest is prioritized by ISPs to provide a faster speed. Download speeds will never. EVER. match your speedtest speed.

To speed up your download, close out all background processes that you safely can, and make sure you're not using the same internet as your pc. That's all I can advise

Just because you pay for 65 MBPS doesn't mean you get it. As was mentioned Speedtests lie. While many ISP's don't favor per say speedtests, however the way they work is often a more true to life approximation.

As for slow downloads, clear up internet traffic. Stop streaming, other downloads, close all browser windows (those annoying video adds take bandwidth). That is the only way you can speed up a download. There are about 17 things that you cannot control that affect download speeds. Is your ISP throttling downloads and/or traffic to known video game IP's during peak times? Given you said Spectrum, the answer is yes. They are not shy about their "fast lane" access for premium internet users. Is your ISP under a DDos attack? Is the main hosting server that pushes the game files overloaded? Did someone unplug a wire in a junction under some streat somewhere and your ISP has to physicall reroute all it's fiber traffic?

All of these affect your downloads. All of those you can't control. Just chill, it will re-download soon enough

RIP You, dude. I also have spectrum - that download speed isn't going to go up that much regardless what you do.

You'll have to pay to be prioritized by spectrum. Just wait 3 hours, it isn't that long.

Are we talking here about megabit/second or megabyte/second?
I have yet to see an isp that advertises its speed in megabytes/s and the ff14 game downloader gives its speed in megabytes per second.
The difference is a factor 8.
64 mbit/s dowload would mean 8 megabyte per second max. Usually you get a bit less than that due to some overhead in dowload. so your speed seems to be spot on.

also, speedtests just about allways report in megabit/second. And the test is a theoretical maximum your local line can handle.
Download speeds are dependant on the total route between you and server and on server speeds.
