Character creation date of birth shorthand notation incorrect

    Date & Time:
    July 28th, 2021, 5:55pm

None of the rest of the template data is relevant as this happens during character creation.

    Frequency:
    Always

    Steps:
Detailed steps on how the issue occurred.
During character creation when selecting the character's date of birth, there is the Astral/Umbral moon and the Sun (XXth Sun of the Nth Astral/Umbral Moon). Below that is a shorthand (Moon/Sun). The shorthand follows the standard Gregorian Calendar for the total day number, often duplicating Sun dates within the Moon cycle to accommodate when there are 32 Suns in Moon cycle or in the case of the first Umbral there are numerous duplications on the 7th Sun and 8th Sun, the 15th and 16th Sun, 23rd and 24th Sun. These all duplicate the lower value in the shorthand notation. (e.g. both the 7th and 8th Sun show up in the shorthand as 2/7, 2/7)

Oh my god I thought my copy was just wigging out.
    I'm not seeing things then.
Yeah, lol, I hope this oversight gets fixed.

Players have noted this repeatedly since the Beta test in 2013 and SE have actually stated it's working as intended - it's just an oddity of the Eorzean calendar (an Eorzean month or 'moon' is 32 days for every month, with a year of 384 days, and so some Earth dates have to be doubled up to fit - they tried to make a 1-1 equivelant in the Gregorian calendar as much as possible but ultimately the discrepency between the two calendars is just too great).

Unfortunately, as this is working as intended it's not something they're going to change (as bizzare as it is).

nice find! hope they fix it. wow that was complicated. i had to play around with the calendar in character creation to see what you were saying. but yeah, it's taking the eorzean date and converting it into the nearest matching date from our gregorian calendar. 31 days in january, 29 days in february (seems to be a leap year lol), 31 days in march, 30 days in april, etc.

I don't understand why it needs to be "doubled up to match Earth dates" though. If I want the novelty of my character being born on the 32nd then that's the date I want to see in short form too.

Do you have a link to a post that indicates working as intended? I could not find it.
