I've never been sent to jail or punished ingame, and I see people get away with quite a bit.
Ingame I don't really think the GM's are too bad, I agree with harsher moderation and have pretty low tolerance for toxicity etc.
But on the forums at least it can be a bit ridiculous.

I've been banned twice on the forums, the first time for uh... Calling out someone for being racist, and I was banned for two weeks because I said '' wtf is wrong with you '' in the beginning of my response and that was apparently a horrible enough personal attack to get banned.
Second time was very recent and I was banned for '' discrimination against groups of people '' for again, two weeks.
What exactly did I say that was so discriminatory?
Someone brought up the past US president in literally their first forum post ever and I basically said '' can Americans stop bringing US politics up everywhere? '' and pointed it out that his first and continuous posts were about that... ( He wasn't the only one tho, thread was getting derailed with it ).

The forum moderation is a meme for good reason and easily abused, and there is basically no context taken into consideration at all.
It's extremely easy for someone to get another person banned if they slip up and say anything that could be taken as a '' personal attack '', meanwhile people can sit around and be bigoted so long as they avoid that...
Ingame tho you probably have to do quite a bit to get punished...

I mean like the difference between my bans and yours are quite obvious.
I am biased but in my case I think it's pretty ridiculous, at absolute worst it could've been a warning.

And my point about all of this is I know I made mistakes. My punishment is harsh. I just want a reasonable punishment to fit the crime. Not to be excessively suspended for something this minor when Ive seen people do much worse.

You want to decide the punishment for your infractions, yourself?
You want a punishment that doesn't inconvenience you too much? So... would that actually be a punishment?

As someone mentioned in your other topic. You knew that your names would be offensive, but you still used those names anyway, because you believed you could 'afford' the punishment.
That's not how punishments are supposed to work dude. If 3-5 days was acceptable to you, then that's not long enough for the GMs.

Anyway, you probably got punished for each offense individually, and they just added it up. Usually 3 strikes is perm ban, and maybe you messed up 3 times at once now and instead of a perm ban they give you 20days, but who knows maybe it still becomes perm ban too (often 9day ban is the max and some become perm even). You can appeal, I think it is a waste of time, they almost never back off, often they can't even because they have no power to do so.

I'm coming from EU, I don't know why your fc name is offensive, I used urban dictionary and it is still not really conclusive to me. I just know an actor with that name that got convicted, but why is a single name harassment to others?

And that is why, I feel like so often, that we potentially don't see the full picture and connections with it, maybe you messed up more than you want to admit or remember. Or it's just NA GM's being harsher with enforcement in those what is defined as "harassment" areas nowadays. They defined it very broad... So basically don't talk in chat at all, 1 in 1000 might get hurt by your words.

This isn't World of Warcraft, you can be glad that your account doesn't get terminated. Read the ToS and the guidelines for acceptable behavior and do better next time and be glad the people you flamed didn't reported you.

It's not hard to be not a jerk or troll but if you want to be one you have to live with the risk that SE shows you the door while telling you that they don't need your sub money.

The only thing slaps on the wrists do when it comes to breaking rules is give you a one time safety barrier where you can act as badly as you like until you're caught and warned, then you start behaving.

There's a good life lesson here. If you don't want to be punished, don't do things that obviously break rules. Calling people "soft" or yelling it's unfair after won't get you anywhere either. It's not even that harsh, you can come back in 3 weeks, take the time to reflect. If you can't do that, you won't be missed.

Banned for 20 days for having inappropriately named retainers and an FC named "Cosby Klan". I pay to play this game. This is my first offense as a sprout. I was told there was nothing they could do because the 2 retainers and FC name change caused a pile up of reports and I couldn't be given a lighter punishment and that I wouldn't be given any kind of leniency. I don't want a slap on the wrist. Like. I just want a reasonable punishment for what I did wrong. Force me to change the names and 3-5 day ban. You are taking away 2/3 of my paid subscription for the month for a first offense name violation. The GM I spoke with was not helpful at all. Just repeating copy paste dialog rather than trying to actually talk with me and understand my point of view. Force closed the encounter when I was still trying to talk with them and figure out what I could do to prevent bans in the future. This is complete ass.

Jail and a 20 day ban? Yeah, this ain't your first offense champ. Maybe not be a giant douche and avoid the penalties, like 95% of the playerbase?
