Suggestion: Official FATE timers OR fixed FATE respawn times.

I'm currently grinding for the ARR relic weapons and have to do the step with the books. I don't have a problem at all with any of the stuff you have to do for this. Except FATEs.

Specific FATEs? No problem - if I didn't have to wait for ages for some of them to respawn, not knowing when they would do so. 5 minutes? 30 minutes? 2 hours? It's impossible to tell.

Hence why I would suggest to add actual FATE timers in-game. I'm not talking about the ones that give achievements and/or minions, only the "normal" FATEs. It would make the grind a lot more enjoyable and less annoying.

Or, alternatively, you could do something like a maximum respawn time, let's say 15 minutes or so. Knowing that if a FATE is not there yet or just despawned, you wouldn't have to wait more than 15 minutes also makes the whole thing a lot less annoying and frustrating.

Just my 2 cents. Feel free to give your own opinion on this.

The missing trick that will help you, until they get around to solving it is, there's a limit to the number of fates at any one time, so if you complete fates fast enough you can keep fates under the limit, and eventually the one you need will be randomly selected to be the next one.

I will say this, those books are the hardest single grind in the game. I quit twice, for long periods of time, getting through them once. It can only have been worse in the old days.

To add, there are a few of the book FATEs that share a spawn slot with a couple other FATEs, so if one of the other FATEs is up, the one you want will not spawn.
You can look up the FATE you need online and see if it is shared with other FATEs, then you know which other ones to look out for to clear out.
So, like ICountFrom0 said, do your best to keep the zone FATEs cleared.

Just fly around and knock them out.... It doesn't take long if you are good geared.
You wont get bored, you can EXP up your alt jobs and/or Chocobo, and earn Gil and GC currency..... win/win

Typically, the book FATEs will pop within 20~40 minutes tops if you keep the zone FATE free.
If you just park in the zone and do nothing waiting for your FATE to pop.... yeah, you will be waiting for a loooooooong time.
