First it would only work while dungeons are in Expert queue. Once they are out and give only poetics and outdated gear, no one will bother with extra content, just like now people don't bother with extra chests in ARR dungeons.
Second it creates division among players. What if both DPS in your party want a fast run while tank wants full clear? Kick the tank? DPS leave and eat deserter penalty? That's extra toxicity among playerbase for a minor reward.
And the last point - corridor with two extra rooms to the sides is still a corridor at the end of the day. Even toto rak, when you boil it down to it's core is nothing but elaborate corridor. It just feels like a labyrinth because it has all those options you never take.

Since the initial references were without the "back in my day in 1.0" modifier, and the behavior being described doesn't match anything in 2.0, my "suppose" was warranted, since I never actually played in 1.0

"You were encouraged to level multiple jobs since 1.0" implies it continued into 2.0, especially given the cross-class requirements. Speedruns instances for extra chests wasn't qualified by "in 1.0", neither were Cutter's Cry "requirements" provided that [1.x] designator.

You could have just responded to the poster at the end without dragging me in for a bit of "I must correct this person who cannot read". I can read quite well, thank you.

Like I said coil had a number of cc mechanics, twintania had to stun lock an add before it reached a targeted person else it would one shot them, and then there was snake lady, we had to slow/heavy or root that cyclops add so could petrify it, and there was a number of moves boss had to be silenced or stunned else would debuff everyone or big damage, stuff like that is rarely seen in raids nowadays.

BLMs already do this. It's a common misconception that Aetherial Manipulation moves the BLM to the target; that's something that any non-magical plebian can do. No, masters of the black arts instead move the target and the rest of the world to them, it only looks like the BLM is the one moving to everyone else.

That is definitely I hope they improve in the future, the lack of utility means there is no thought on how to approach an encounter, in a "dungeon" for example there is nothing to do other than use AoE skills for trash and single target for bosses, the answer to the situation is always so clear, there is never something that asks you to think about how you approach the situation because we dont have much utility to speak of.

I 100% agree OP. This is also why I have been a big proponent of unlimiting BLU. BLU has actual utility and that is the reason it is OP, which is hilarious to me. Black Mage has Freeze but it doesn’t Freeze anything. Meanwhile BLU can just straight up Freeze and then Ultravibration.
Sleep and Repose are so useless I’m amazed they even kept them in. If I need to sleep something it’s probably gonna be on the overworld, and if that I can just run or heal through the pain, so like what’s the point? Sleep could be a powerful utility if it caused the next attack against mobs to deal more damage or always be critical/direct.

My solution: Don’t disinclude BLU. Increase the standards of everything else and throw lots more mobs at us that need to be controlled. Give Ninja a self destruct or Dragoon it’s own Final Sting. Give Black Mage Toad and Reaper Death and Summoner Summon Odin. Give Raise and Revive to Paladin and Monk. The content trail is getting repetitive and is so easy to burn out on this game these days. Up the friggin ante.

Yeah as much as i love FFXIV this is something that i definitely wish would change. My favorite type of MMO content is the classic holy trinity dungeon experience with parties of ~5 and i think FFXIV's dungeons leaves a lot to be desired. They look very pretty and serve a great purpose in the story, but they tend to be complete facerolls where you just hit sprint, wall-to-wall pull to the boss, nuke everything and repeat. I would really like some sort of M+ type system or atleast unlocking harder versions at max level that provice somewhat of a challenge, akin to the heroics in the Burning Crusade.

Even the "Expert" roulette dungeons are just more of the same in terms of difficulty, just higher ilvl drops. For those of us who really dont like to (or cant for whatever reason) play the game on a schedule with a static dungeons and alliance raids (which are equally simple since they're meant for everyone as a catch-up mechanic) is pretty much the only combat oriented end-game content we got. I haven't touched WoW for about a year but M+ was one of my favorite additions to that game in recent years.

Couldn’t have said it better myself, game is fine as is.

The thing about utility is that is has to balanced around or it can break things. The reason wall to wall pulls are so common is because you can get away with it so easily. Nerf healer output or tank survivabilty and single pulls would become "meta" if it made it so the tank just couldn't live. If mobs did more damage or had dangerous things about them outside of "move away" style aoes things like single pulling, stuns, and interrupts would all have more value as well.

If it is too strong though, strats are going to be made around them. What if dnc had a skill that "seduced" a target while they channel the dance. Depending on what targets it works on that could be crazy strong or just kinda useless. If it only worked on trash mobs it would suck because why do you need a stun that also stuns you for the trash in this game? If it worked on bosses? DNC would have a perma spot in every party.

You sound like you should do full clears of HoH or POTD. This is the closest youll get to using any of your utility, somewhat engaging 4man content that generally isn't a faceroll. They are releasing another deep dungeon for Endwalker so that should tickle that itch. I run them pretty regularly myself and they tend to scratch that itch.
