Personally, I really like the GNB and PLD sets. SAM as well. RDM is par for the course. Red outfit with some flair, along with a fancy hat. Everything else...eh. I'm indifferent.

I think that was the point, to be honest; They could have added a bit more flash to the designs, but at the end of the day AF designs need to be iconic/easy to recognize as "Black Mage", etc.

....that said, I think they could have pulled some designs from other Final Fantasies, like Cecil's Paladin design or Rydia's summoner design from FF4.

Personally, I've been waiting for the iconic "Black Mage" set with the black face/yellow eyes. The Dwarves came close...but I'm talking Vivi/Gigi black mage.

Not necessarily. I personally believe that the gear should be different than what came before. And it is, for the most part. "Better" will always always be subjective, and asking the gear designers to make every new gear set "better" than the cumulative "betterness" of every single one that came before is just asking too much.

"Different" is a much better way to go about it. If each artifact set is different from the last, then that opens up choices to the players. Do you like the current [GEAR SET]? Yes? Then wear it. No? Then wear a past [GEAR SET] and enjoy looking like the best version of you that you can come up with.

I love all war gear sets, but this one is my favorite so far, the dnc one is a huge downgrade from the lv 80 imo (though a friend told me it looks more traditional to the job), and I'm not surprised in the slightest whm is female oriented

They did say the men's version will be different, but we'll have to wait and see how much.

I don't think they're terrible and there's a handful that I like enough to consider using. With that said, I feel as though some of them appear to be a little too similar to what we have already.

With that said, they'll probably be handed out for free again as soon as we complete our role quests and hit the level cap. Which also means being replaced rather quickly once the tome grind begins...

My guess is some of the dungeon/crafted gear at launch will be more impressive looking.
