Questions about retainers, NPCs (vendors) and mannequins.

Hey guys, new player here !

I have been thinking of the housing aspect of the game and hopefully I will be able to purchase a large house in the future after saving enough for it.

I have a pretty good idea on what I want but I had a few questions about characters and mannequins we can use in housing. I tried Reddit but nobody seemed 100% sure, so here I am.

● Are NPCs and Mannequins’ limits the same or separate limits ? For example 10 mannequins + 10 NPCs for a large mansion.

● I heard there’s now a display mode for mannequins but they still need to take up the name of a retainer. Is that correct ?

● Why retainers don’t show their actual nicknames but mannequins use retainers’ nicknames ?

● Perhaps my biggest sad moment when I learned this, is there a reason why retainers can’t be placed inside our homes ?

I mostly wanted to use retainers and mannequins (along with some NPCs) to make my potential home more lively.

Mannequins have a separate limit from the NPC permits.

Mannequins will display name of the retainer they're linked to (cannot be avoided).

Have no idea why retainers placed in a yard show the player name while mannequins display the retainer name. That's something SE would have to explain.

SE would also have to explain why retainers can only be outside not inside. It may have something to do with the way they display marketboard listings (Mannequins don't work the same way).

I think it’s bizarre the retainers get stripped of their name but inanimate mannequins can acquire their name, nevertheless I intended to use this and mannequins as house guards/servants. Glad the limit with actual NPC is not the same !
