I am all for this! We have a surplus of feminine casting and healing glams. It won't kill us to get something a bit more rugged. The Voeburtite/Heirloom tunics of casting and healing come to mind when I think of feminine Disciple of Magic gear. It's practically a mini dress design-wise, and while some people might like that (myself included), I can imagine most dudes would glam that off in a heartbeat.
What casters and healers need are more outfits like Exdeath's and Golbez's heavy armor, or Seymour's robes with the open chest and tattoos.
Honestly, none of this would be an issue if the devs weren't afraid to give casters and healers more than black and white robes. If every other class can bounce between intimidating and shiny armor, tight and rugged leathers, and fancy cloth armors of varying lengths, then why can't disciples of magic?
Now as for this whole gender lock thing, I'm fine with the glams that are obtainable in-game being locked, and if the lock gets removed somewhere down the line then that's just a little bonus for me. If it doesn't, well that's no skin off my rump.
What does chafe me are character glams on the Mogstation being locked unless someone gets a brain worm and decides "Oh hey, Alphinaud's outfit looks good on the ladies too", or "Aymeric's hairstyle is unisex, but his armour ain't lmao" while Lightning and Snow, or Thancred and Y'shtola's hairstyles are decidedly not unisex. Stuff like that does grind my gears a bit.
