I thought this thread was about discussing what we want? What's your point? :P
2B themed glams drop from copied factory though, just like 9s themed ones do. Yet they still gave the 2b coffer. It’s just funny to me though that Yoshi P wants to go on about “equality” for brownie points with the community, yet when push comes to shove we get a female themed glam and not a male alternative for people that play male characters...where’s the equality?People cosplayed 2b long before her outfit became available and it was about the same effort as trying to create 9s. It just seems like again, they wanted to pander to the skimpy female characters like always and male characters got shafted like always.
Edit:
In fairness, a lot of the gear that drops from the Nier raid does fill that.
The 2B gear is more like a fun reference and 2B's design is ultimately more popular than say 9S.
It'd be cool to have gotten both but they also designed all of the other gear too, so I am more forgiving of it.
I mean in that scenario the 9S gear would've been what was to appease a minority, and some of the gear already is very similar from the Nier raids. It's pretty easy to cosplay him already while cosplaying 2B would've been more difficult.

The 2B set being unisex was on Yoko Taro. I am not really familiar with his games, but from how he's acted in every interview with the xiv staff I assume he fought for it cause he thought it'd be funny and zany random humor seems to be his thing.

I, for one, am all for gender unlocking of gear, but can also see why they wouldn't "just do it." There are likely a good deal of logistical and/or technical reasons, and those would sound reasonable to me.
That said, the quoted comment is one that I find rather baffling (more so with the number of likes it got) because it assumes that something like "identity" hinges on whether or not a character can, say, wear jeans but not a skirt.

So then if this is indeed true(we’ll never get an answer obviously), then he thinks the same way as a lot of the people in this thread who also think 99% of the time a guy dresses up in something heavily feminine like the 2b outfit, it’s for humor purposes.(which i kind of agree with too, i usually only see it used as humor.) Nevertheless though if it indeed was his decision, then the original plan would’ve been to have had it be a female glam only, in which case...yay for shafting the males as i’ve said before. It just seems really lazy on SE’s part to take off the genderlock of one piece of glam but then leave it on for another that’s part of the same exact raid and which they already have the model in the game for. Then again laziness seems to be the theme this expansion so![]()
Instead of asking for "stop genderlocking", asking for kilts for males or more pants for females is a better idea imo. But i guess kilts are too manly lol
Yeah but at the same time, some skirts have a different design. So like you said it's close but you can't just pick a skirt change de size just to make male be able to wear it and call it a kilt after. The differences are all in the details, that's why ppl don't put kilts and skirts together. One example is that kilts have a specific lengh and shape, skirts have all kind of lenghs and shapes. That's why many ppl here are against removing genderlock, it will be copy and pasting a dress without changes outside of not being too small or too big.In the grand scheme of design, Kilts and Skirts are literally the same thing. Probly the only real difference is the material they are made from, and a few trinkets. Otherwise, a Kilt is just a Skirt, you dont have to be Male to wear one, just like you dont have to be Female to wear a Skirt. Sure a Native to the culture might get offended, but they are and function the same....not like there is anything wrong with that.
And asking for tons of outfits being unlocked when the developpers don't even have time to make 2 different options on 1 outfit for everyone feels off to me. If genderlock is here, it's not just for being anoying.

This thread is funny with OP pics are files in game they are just waiting for right time to release them same as The Butler and Maid set for both genders, already stated they want to slowly remove gender locked clothing over time just wait.
people against men in dresses just gotta cope since they already can wear stuff like spring dress and wedding dress,
also Japan isn't really against cross dressing obviously people are gonna find it odd but where doesn't but its generally "humorous" to see a man in women clothing it aint tabboo to them lol.
personally i don't care what you wear, its not like game is super graphic anyway.
No one cares what anyone's wearing. This thread is funny with OP pics are files in game they are just waiting for right time to release them same as The Butler and Maid set for both genders, already stated they want to slowly remove gender locked clothing over time just wait.

People care what it means for future gear/glamour design and what gets cut so that they can add cross dressing. As someone who plays a male character I don't want the 2B copied factory glamour to become what we see more of. For that I would make a female character.

How many players would actually wear dresses, panties, and the like, unironically? That means no joke sets, dressed up alt (that is barely played), or just people saying they would (they don't). Many may like talking about how it's the 'right' thing, but is the 'right' thing a justifiable enough reason to use up even more resources on something only a fraction of the playerbase would actually use?
