I, for one, am all for gender unlocking of gear, but can also see why they wouldn't "just do it." There are likely a good deal of logistical and/or technical reasons, and those would sound reasonable to me.

That said, the quoted comment is one that I find rather baffling (more so with the number of likes it got) because it assumes that something like "identity" hinges on whether or not a character can, say, wear jeans but not a skirt.
