Careful now, some people might just claim you're making it up.Yup agreed, also as a gay guy. Im tired of seeing the constant feminine outfits or "gender neutral" outfits that lean towards feminine. Masculine outfits and styles are pretty rare, especially if you play a healer. I'd say wait for that to get balanced before asking for dev time to be put towards taking off genderlocks of other gear. They couldnt even give us the 9s outfit for the nier raid, instead we only got the 2b outfit which is entirely feminine![]()
When the game's story becomes self-aware:
Athough I really like the shorts better than the briefs, I'm surprised they changed that given the fact that the 2P leggings exist and they are even more scandalous, as they accentuate certain assets. Or the summer briefs are also just as skimpy too.Was sad to see the leg gear (the tights) of the Thavnairian Bustier set being altered for males. They were changed to shorts. Granted, it wasn't too drastic a change, and I can simply just wear something else... but I thought we were fine with male characters wearing a bikini-style leg gear. Coeurl beach briefs are a thing.
I guess I should be grateful they at least didn't turn into blue jeans or something...
/shrug
In a perfect world, we'd have both items separate to suit people's tastes.
For me, I honestly don't care what people are. I'm a girl and I wanted 9S outfit too.Yup agreed, also as a gay guy. I just think people should be able to wear whatever they please in my honest opinion. Peoples sexuality on the matter doesn't matter to me as they're just clothes.
Here's another example of something I want, the male version of this:
Shirt > Dress.
100% this, I want that suit on my little ari girl. She would look so cute. I have the dress, mostly for the tights. Because sometimes I just want to show my inner goth with candy stripes. BTW, back in the 90s, when I pretended to be a man, I would often wear stripped tights with shorts, in a very gender neutral and gothic look. For me, I honestly don't care what people are. And, to an extent i agree. It would be a benefit for both the female characters and male characters. My point is, it doesnt change the fact that the game is pretty bias towards feminine clothing. Whereas masculine clothing is much more rare in comparison. We have to acknowledge that it would take immense resources to go to every piece of gear and ungenderlock it so to speak. I think before we even start thinking about that, we need to start seeing some changes and more equality with the sets we're getting now. Because typically gender neutral or ungenderlocked things or male outfits typically look much better on female characters than female outfits look on male characters. So id rather some time be put towards giving us some masculine or male themed gear as opposed to continuing the bias of feminine gear. Then once thats settled i dont really have a problem with ungenerlocked gear so long as we are getting a balance of everything. Problem is again, that takes a lot of resources, which the devs apparently cant even do the bare minimum and make all gear dyable. For me, I honestly don't care what people are. Exactly, I don't see why people are bringing sexuality (theirs of other people) into this. It's more about not locking clothes into gender roles. Clothes shouldn't have gender to begin with, they're just clothes. And how does it hurt anybody's eyes to see somebody wear whatever, as long as it's decent?
They have a lot of masculine sets, just as many as they have feminine sets, in fact masculine sets are way easy to get, as they are usually "all class" sets for glam, and can be either earned with in game currency or crafted. Where as Feminine sets are either class locked or store purchased. The best looking dress in the game is level 80 Caster Locked (type 51 caster)which is great if I was a Caster Main on my actual main. But I play Ranged/Melee on my actual main character. And most of the outfits sets are overly masculine. And, to an extent i agree. It would be a benefit for both the female characters and male characters. Edit: Adding the image of the type 51 caster set, best looking dress for females, and rather cool looking lab coat for males. I dislike that it's a gender flip set, and females can't wear the labcoat, and males can't wear the awesome dress.
and if you don't believe me that most of the ranged sets are masculine, look at this list: Eorzea collection ranged sets on female models
Bigger list, all melee and ranged sets on female model sorted by Ilevel
Except the sets that flip artwork for females, all of these sets are very masculine.

Those pics remind me of something I said in a similar thread ages ago: While an entire outfit set may lean feminine or maculine, the individual pieces can be used in either or quite effectively. It really throws out the idea that removing gender lock would give us less variety when good glams are made from mixing and matching to produce a desired look.100% this, I want that suit on my little ari girl. Much of the glam in this game is very feminine, and I wouldn't mind more masculine gear in general. It would also be nice if they would stop slapping bows and frills on perfectly good glams to go "This is now for ladies. Our job here is done." Either make a completely unique glam or don't tease me with the lesser version of a suit. It breaks my heart every time.
Better yet, just let us use it all.

In some ways it can help to give that piece of information as typically these types of conversations are geared toward specific types of people.Exactly, I don't see why people are bringing sexuality (theirs of other people) into this. Hard disagree on there being just as many masculine sets as feminine. Thats just factually untrue. In the end though tastes are subjective, so what you see as the best dress may be the worst one for others. One prime example is look at all the healer sets in the game. Even the caster ones as theyre typically just darker colored versions of the healer sets. Typically extremely feminine.
