Kilts are gender locked too, afaik. The female version looks different. I'd be very surprised if there exists even one culture that does not differentiate between male and female formal wear.

Side note, I'd absolutely love traditional Scottish outfits for male and female characters. They look great.

It might have been said in the posts somewhere above, but even if so I am saying it again.

Clothes themselves have no gender, it's the various societies that have placed social restrictions on who should look proper in what.

Men have worn skirted outfits for centuries, it is only in the last couple hundred years it started being considered 'wrong' for them to do so.

Women have been in skirts for most of recorded history. When they bucked the trend in the 19th century and started wearing pants, people bitched up a storm. But the world wars in the 20th century showed the practicality of allowing women to do so, and society eventually accepted the trend of women in pants. So now females can literally pretty much wear anything and not be too judged on it.

Men though have a very upward battle to get their skirts back.......

But some don't care and do it anyway, just google 'men's skirts' to see what I mean.

No. Men wore clothes designed to male bodies. Togas etc.. All these suit male body form. What these people are asking is to men wear clothes designed for female body type and it looks ridiculous if not even disturbing in vast majority of the cases.

We have togas or similar in game and they fit nicely in. We have cross dressing via wedding dress and so on and they make me wish no children/teens would ever play this game

The body type argument sounds really hollow when aside hyurs, miqotes and vieras, the characters in this game tend to have very unrealistic proportions.

I'd actually prefer to see male characters running around in the flimsy dress than see male Miqo'te/Roebro #60798798070 in the summer strap bottoms.

I totally forgot about the fact that this game is rated T for Teens. For them to keep pushing this lifestyle in a game that's rated for underage children is crossing the line. If I had a child and they kept allowing men to wear dresses I would not let them play this game. Underage children should not be exposed to this lifestyle. If I was a parent I want my children to procreate, and I will do everything within my power to unsure my bloodline continues. The promotion of this lifestyle goes against that.

To be fair they have the disclaimer that online interactions are not rated by the ESRB.

    Holy shit.

Allowing male WoL to wear female attire or the other way around would not suddenly cause the world's fertility rate to drop or anything like that. Or causing your, or anyone else's, bloodline to suffer.

Some of you are *really* overthinking this to the point where your 'concern' crosses the line to sound utterly ridiculous.

I have no idea how you could type something like "I will do everything within my power to ensure my bloodline continues" and not blinking about how ridiculous that sounds.

While I can agree that what Amnmaat said is a bit on the extreme side of things, you have to admit the ideas of "nonconforming" genders and same sex relations is becoming oversaturated in Western media and culture. It's gotten to the point where two people of the same sex cannot have a meaningful relationship outside of being lovers. See Frodo and Sam from Lord of the Rings for that. Even the Tolkien Society is pushing the idea that they were gay. It's one thing to create a piece of fiction with ideas like that in mind. It's another to shoehorn it into every aspect of everything.
