The funny thing is people call phobia when we disagree about a matter of aesthetic.

Clothes for "women" are supposed to be made for "women" body shape as clothes for men are supposed to be made for "men" body shape.

It's not because you find a clothing pretty it will fit you. You don't believe me? Then why so many people ask for advices to dress if it is false? Why so many magazines give advices to choose the right shape of clothes depending of your body type?

Women clothes rarely fit men especially when the cut is made to valorize hips shape (without telling anything about hairy men's legs ).

Even without considering gender, some clothing will look vulgar or weird one some people when it will look cool on another. Maybe it's unfair but that's the life.

You know what male exclusive clothing used to be vulgar and weird on women in the past? Pants.

It's not an aesthetic or vulgarity thing as much as it's a culture thing at all.
I think women in male suits look great, and not even that long ago it'd have been outrageous.
Also women have hairy legs too, but guess what we usually do to them... Waxing or shaving isn't something limited to women...

Tbh overall the whole "body shape" thing ends up falling flat when male Au Ras' bodies have a pretty extreme hourglass shape or Lalafells are literal tubes.

If you talk about culture, you can't escape that as soon as it is necessary, cultures adapt the clothing cut to the body shape.

The traditionnal kimono does have some kind of dress for men, in Asia, some clothings are some kind of dress, BUT the cut for women and men is not the same.

It's pretty Occidental and contemporary to escape the question of beauty. Even Arts now are not about "beautiful" but about "concepts", "shock". I'm old fashioned, Art, for me, remains about beauty. Clothings are supposed to valorize the natural attributes, to valorize advantages, not to... express some kind of politic opinion. People shouldn't complain if the style they absolutly want makes them look weird, it is their problem, they are not victims.

EDIT : Rather than beauty, I should use "balance", that sounds more accurate.


Colors are a different matters... India is a fair example that colors are not related to gender. Regarding colors, western countries are... pretty sad (even for cars, people are used to buy blue, grey, black, white... monotonous)

Are you Scottish? I am. I live in Scotland.

They're not referred to as skirts - they're referred to as kilts and they're quite clearly designed to not be a skirt in the regular sense and are built to adhere to the male form in a way that is very different to how a skirt would be designed to look and fit on a woman.

The Romans used attire similar to kilts, too - but again, they were designed to accommodate the differences between men and women.

Yikes... once again someone pulling the phobia card because people disagree with the OP.
This is less phobia than just people don't want others to look ridiculous, OP sad the gates should be open now and there is no excuse to stop genderlocking since both genders can use the 2B outfit...
I think this is exactly where he is wrong the 2B outfit is the whole reason to stop that because it's not exactly pleasant to look at male characters running around in 2B pants and bunny outfit stockings etc.
This kind of "dresscode" is not something I want to see more of. More often than not people wear that outfit to look ridiculous and troll rather than wanting to look good.

The biggest issue I see in this game is that outfits are made for female characters and then adjusted to males which is really lazy, they also tend to make more female outfits in general, this is something that needs to change.
For example you can clearly see the current best craftable tank body looks ridiculous on male because it was made for females.

Kilts are gender locked too, afaik. The female version looks different. I'd be very surprised if there exists even one culture that does not differentiate between male and female formal wear.

Side note, I'd absolutely love traditional Scottish outfits for male and female characters. They look great.

Women have been in skirts for most of recorded history. When they bucked the trend in the 19th century and started wearing pants, people bitched up a storm. But the world wars in the 20th century showed the practicality of allowing women to do so, and society eventually accepted the trend of women in pants. So now females can literally pretty much wear anything and not be too judged on it.

Men though have a very upward battle to get their skirts back.......

No. Men wore clothes designed to male bodies. Togas etc.. All these suit male body form. What these people are asking is to men wear clothes designed for female body type and it looks ridiculous if not even disturbing in vast majority of the cases.

We have togas or similar in game and they fit nicely in. We have cross dressing via wedding dress and so on and they make me wish no children/teens would ever play this game
