    STOP Genderlocking Cosmetics!!

EDIT: Disappointed, but not surprised at the level of homophobia/transphobia, hate and apathy directed towards gender non-conforming people wanting to be able to have options in this game. A sad world.
    ----

I honestly thought we'd start to see more progress the day the both wedding attires were unlocked. Yet here we are, still getting fed cash-shop gender exclusive gear. Even with regular ingame items. Why?

What I find hilarious is that the game purportedly already has female sets like the spring dress, and thavnarian outfit modelled and fitted for all male characters. This has been the case for more than a year now, and yet they're still locked in the actual game lol.

Here are some images I found on the topic over on discord:

What's more shocking and very confusing is that apparently, every single male exclusive designed item is always fitted and wearable for every female race. But the reverse is not true, as the data just doesn't exist at all.

I remember back when people used to defend the genderlocking by bringing up countries such as UAE and the conservative nature of japan. But since everyone can run around in 2B's outfit, there really aren't anymore excuses as to why they're still at this.

    Yoshi P, please-

I'm fine with the gender lock not being a priority to remove if it means more focus on traditionally masculine gear for male characters and traditionally feminine gear for female characters. It's what the majority of people seem to want, after all - and I'd rather not see the game's fashion trends dictated purely by whoever happens to be the the loudest, most vocal voice within the community.

Not having genderlocking doesn't mean an outfit can't be masculine or feminine. As with the example provided by Roukiz. All the genderlocking serves is to provide frustration for players when they find a piece of gear that looks nice and disappointingly enough it's gender locked.

When i get a pair of pants, i want them to be a pair of pants and not a skirt!

They aren't always fitted for every female character. What's happening there is it's loading the male version of the outfit on a female character, but the game doesn't work the other way. I'd wager it's because there are some genuinely gender neutral items like gloves and boots. So the game translates the male character appearance to a female character if one doesn't exist. That's a pretty common approach to gender neutral items in most games.

Look at how they’ve done with caster and healer gear. Even the male ones are incredibly feminine. I’d rather not have that be a thing. Hell, the 2b gear isn’t genderlocked but it’s still heavily feminine and got no male alternative. I’d rather they spend more time coming up with more masculine male glams than trying to come up with ungenderlocked glams that appease a 1%

Or unnecessarily altered for the opposite gender. Take the Healing top from Paradigms Breech. On females it's got the side that's cut and reveals that side of their torso, also on the shoulders it's got cut outs to see skin. On males they decided they needed an under shirt for whatever reason to hide the same skin. It is fairly frustrating at times.

Resources are finite and the moment gender locks were removed on hairstyles we began getting an increase in the amount of androgynous/feminine hairstyles that are considered too long by many people playing male characters and too short by many people playing female characters.

If they can be unlocked over time when the development team have room to breathe, fine - but I'd rather not miss out on cool looking male attire because the latest dress thrown up on the Mog Station 'needs' to account for the very tiny portion of the player base who wish to clad their character in it.

As it stands, there's also many more players playing female characters who wish to dress up in male attire compared to the number of people playing male characters who wish to dress up in female attire.

The maid outfit also has a male specific model in the files despite being still genderlocker. Where is it SE...

Also for your second picture, it's not actually a female model, there is no boobs, the "game" can scale the model to fit the race but not alter the model to fit the gender.

    ????

Why would we lose out on masculine and feminine gear?

To me removing the lock just means a guy can use the thavnarian outfit and a girl can run around in big, spiky pauldrons. If they want to.

It is weird to me that we didn't get a coffer of 9S's gear, I'll say that. Puppet's Bunker drops gear that looks very, very similar but not quite there.
