How many lines of unique dialogue currently exist?

Hello! With the deep story covering years of development, is there a count of how many unique lines of dialogue are in the game? Between cinematics and in game dialogue from quest to quest, there must be an amazing amount of work put into it by the team that writes the story. Obviously, this is a question that players like myself could not answer, but hopefully this reaches a kindly dev's ear.

I don't think anyone has cataloged that, it'd be an insane undertaking.

If you can read Japanese, they're making books with all the MSQ dialogue up to Stormblood. It's called "The Unending Journey". It might come to English sometime but it seems like it would be a huge effort.

Three books, 456 / 232 / 296 pages respectively, 170pt text size, for patches 2.0 ~ 4.5.

It wouldn't be terribly hard for devs to figure out, which is what I am hoping for.

It wouldn't be terribly hard for devs to figure out, which is what I am hoping for.

It might be harder than you think. "Speech bubble" text, "screen bubble + chat log" text, voiced lines, and quest text are all stored in different places. All of those have unused entries, placeholders, and spacers. Quest files also have the same prefix for dialog, journal, and spacing. I don't know that even SE has a quick and dirty way to do a specific count. A very rough count maybe.
