Serious note -Why so many toxic players lately?

Proving me wrong about what? That I was not holding myself back at the time? I am not at all times doing exactly what I say I'm doing forever and always in the past. Do you?

I did the same with another guy who diagnosed me with an existential crisis of control on my first thread. On another thread, he said he is working in the psych field to prove his point on an argument that was barely touching the main topic. And then I reminded him that he is a clown.

It is similar to the post I initially replied to. It actually is not connected with the topic at all. The one who started derailing from the thread discussion is you and I continued it.

You cut in with an irrelevant piece of information and attempted a gotcha. Don't try to deflect. You then revealed that the REAL reason you were here was to level accusatory and vindictive dredging of past posts up by posting condescending drivel.

Nobody asked you if you are holding from accusing all new posters of being Titanmen alt. You didn't hold when I started posting here and I will point that out so that eventually if someone else who is new gets called out for being titanman alt they would know that it's not really their fault and that FFXIV's forum has some special breed of crazy lunatics.

Someone mentioned they thought it was possibly one, I then contributed that I was doing my best to not assume that immediately. So while I did accuse you of being a troll.. I honestly don't remember if I accused you of being a troll alt.. there was no reason at the time to give extra leniency because of extra players incoming.. . But your particular way of "contributing" here is reminding me of what the post I likely replied to was like.


I didn't hold when you started posting here and now you want me to ask forgiveness or something? I had no reason to hold back judgment as I've stated several times. The ratio of troll to actual posters was quite high, although I'll say at the moment this week it's been pretty low unless ALL these new people are troll alts. The only suspicious activity I've seen is from a couple necro-post dredging no-lifes and some questionably contrarian newbies.

This new crop of trolls, playing the "by the book not by the spirit" rules sticklers is getting old.

Because not only were you posting about something with a seeming familiarity about a known hot button topic, but were doing it right in the middle of a rash of other trolls posting about parsing and getting people kicked by the letter of the law but not the spirit.

I could have been nicer. Yes. But I still am not beholden to the claim more than two months later that I am holding back currently against judging new entries because of the new influx of players being a recent occurrence.

You seemed a troll because you picked a lot of trollish positions and arguments. You continue to be obstinate and trying to find something to accuse me of or to find a failing in.



Troll or not, you aren't particularly someone I'd recommend discussing anything with. Quite vindictive and petty.

Some people don't talk in dungeons, some people don't have chat up, some people literally just don't care enough to respond. That doesn't mean you bait them or come at them over it and initiate an argument.

No troll post. I do have to say that seeing answers like yours is giving me a lot of answers about bad community as a whole though. I mean, like you said, how dare I expect players to communicate with each other in a "massively multiplayer online roleplaying game?" If they ignore me and I say, "oh, guess you're ignoring me then. ok." it's like me running over their dog and laughing about it. And when you ask a simple question or try to work as a team, you know, since a party is a group effort and not you playing solo....you deserve to have people throw insults at you.

So with some people having that thought pattern, it's what is nurturing that toxic environment. Asking someone a question isn't baiting. And I don't feel like arguing and baiting to show you what that really would look like. Maybe you or others say things you don't really mean or lie through your teeth, but I truly say what I mean and mean what I say at all times. There's never hidden agendas or anything else.

The level is overall getting lower (I have seen wipes on fights I have never wiped before - or at least in a very long time) because you have a lot of brand new players.
But that's different from being toxic.
If anything, your post kinda make you sound like the toxic one...

Help new users, be patient and kind. Try to help with mechanics.
If they don't seem to listen, try explaining with the auto translate. Don't assume that people speak English.
Also keep in mind that a lot of new PS4/PS5 users might not have a keyboard yet.

Nah no one should be feeling like they're walking through a minefield when talking to someone because any little thing will make them feel offended.
TC wasn't saying "dude use dance partner" or anything worse. If they felt offended and decided to ignore, it's on THEM, not the topic creator. Instead of petting bad players on the head (new player =/= bad player) consider that they explicitly said they were being ignored the entire time until they got fed up with it, as they should.
Sometimes you find those people who act like they've been living in a bubble with petals thrown in the path they walk. Since XIV does an exceptionally bad job at motivating players to play their jobs well in non savage content, you're gonna run into those players multiple times in the future.
I'd just stick with running DF with friends instead.

I have been wondering the same actually. seem to be an almost daily thread asking for opinions and then disagreeing with anything dissenting and usually designed to create drama

Why can't you just be humble and admit that your comments to that player could very easily be read as passive aggressive and that they probably viewed you as the toxic player.

I bet barely anyone reading those comments in chat would believe that you were just being curious. Choose your words more carefully next time or better yet, don't say anything at all (referring to your follow up comment).

Don't bring your want to just have a chat into this because If you typed what you said you typed I definitely would not want to be chatting with you. That is because I would never a have guessed that you were just wanting job advice and not having a dig.

I see the word "toxic" everywhere these days, it's the new hashtag to describe someone who's behaviour is not quite to your liking. A while back it was the word "racist"
A toxic player to me is someone who purposely goes out to insult or harries other players in some way. I assume everyone else to be just having a bad day or are preoccupied. Something we are all familiar with
I feel for those who get labelled as toxic for the wrong reasons.
A example of a real toxic game community would be Eve-Online. Wow, I met some people on there that were borderline evil.

I agree. since I main healer, I always assume people will play how they like, I just do my best to keep them off the floor. I dont run into what I consider "toxic" often. if someone appears new, my friend and I will usually mention any upcoming mechanics for boss fights, thats about it. how people choose to play is their business. I mean do I forget things, you betcha. am I going to ask what could be considered derogatory questions? no. as the latest meme goes, I dont pay their sub, if they have questions I answer as politely as I can and away we go.

I havent noticed increasing toxicity,m but I treat others how I want to be treated. have I noticed a lot of new people in runs, sure have. if they are new to the dungeon, will ask if they want tips before bosses, if they dont answer, then I dont. I dont assume they cant speak english, I assume they may not be comfy replying, which is fine. respect other people and playstyles, they will not be your own. if you do that, then the people who are ACTUALLY toxic, will be the only ones to worry about, and they are in every game.

tho i would end asking after first no answer . there is no way, they will change their view . its something like a red flag for them . i encoutered some of these , but i dont care since it went in a bad way... its better to just post on the thread about stories from DF ? or something .
there is also a thing, that people are different . so some can accept that asking, some will feel like it was some attack.. but uh. i just see more toxicity around net ;D about how FF14 is just for weebs and how you can have barely clothed char, or how game looking ugly...

why are some of you seeing communication as a negative thing? how players like the OP don't "deserve" to get a response and whatnot or how you wouldn't respond in chat either
do you not see how selfish that is, how it's the anti-thesis of playing TOGETHER with people? but instead some of y'all elevate themselves to some kind of moral superiority because the OP trying to ask a simple question and paint them the toxic one for trying to talk
