Hmm.... male Elezen and male Au'Ra.
I really love most of the time pointy ears people in games or movies and male au'ras looks really badass.
I would say male vieras too but we only see the character creation (but they look really pretty)

Male Au'Ra.
Although admittedly, I really enjoy seeing all of the various races and folks running around all over the place, especially considering the range of outfits and glamours available. The game is gorgeous in general, but admittedly the characters make up almost an entire art form unto themselves which is cool to see.
But yeah, after checking out all of the different races and options when I joined the game, I honed in on Au'Ra consistently as what felt most "natural" for me. The back story, the mystique, the general frame and the draconic theme all strike a chord in me. Admittedly, considering how it's possible to do all jobs and professions on a single character in this game, I'm not even sure I'll ever create another character, lol
Midlander men are my preference overall. I wish they could be a bit bulkier and taller, as well as have the stubble used by the Warrior of Darkness in promotional footage.
Raen and Xaela men are equally tied as my second favourite. They'd be in the number one spot if not for their hips and the lack of a muscle slider. They look pretty good, though.
Not really a fan of anything else. Miqo'te men with the more rugged face look decent, though they're too short for my liking. Highlander men have what I consider to be the most nicest physique but their faces are lacking in my opinion and the lack of eyebrows is...a baffling design decision to say the least.

When the game's story becomes self-aware:

My main is a Lala, though right now I am fantasiased as an old man just to spruce things up. Will go back to being a Lala before Endwalker releases so I do the story as one.
I like the stature of Lalas, looking like little hobbits standing up at knee height of a grown man. Makes my character stand out. The Stormblood Samurai gear looks quite nice on them, with the loose sleeves, the big scarf, and the hat.
Having played through the MSQ two times (once on my Lala main, another time an alt that I fantasiaed multiple times: female au ra > Highlander male > male Roegadyn > Hrothgar), I feel that Lalafell are the best choice to pick for the story.
- Lalafell have the most expressive... expressions in the game. In cutscenes, the WoL doesn't really do any gestures. It's mostly their face looking, frowning, creasing their eyebrows, etc. These expressions are very slight on non-Lala characters. The slight expressions also don't lend much personality to the WoL. And half of the time, the camera does this at a distance, so the expression doesn't read very clearly. As a Lala, however, my expressions are very exaggerated and it's very clear what the WoL is supposed to be thinking. Plus, it lends a lot of personality to the WoL that just isn't there if you play as the other races.
- You're very clearly supposed to be playing as a young person, probably in their teens or early 20s. There are several people in their late 20s/early 30s, like Ywain or Merlwyb, who are presented as being in a seniors/mentor/authority figures you're supposed to look up to. It's also clear that you are supposed to be a peer to the teenage Alphinaud and Alisae. If you play as a highlander male, than it feels weird for the twins to be treating you as a peer, or for an authority to talk down to you as if you are young man who needs guidance when you are apparently at their same age, or possibly even older. You're also repeatedly called "lad" or "lass", which comes off weird if you're playing as a highlander man or woman or a Roegadyn when it feels like you should be called "sir" or "ma'am".
- The villains feel threatening if you play as a Lala.
If Roegadyn could have more human looking faces like Gosetsu's they would be more popular. I played a Tauren in WoW and a Charr in GW2 and might have been tempted to have switched my main to a Hrothgar if they were more beastlike (better fur, more monstrous faces, more hunched over, sprints on all fours like a Charr).
