Harassment+death threats allowed...warning for thing I didn't do upheld?

I knew a guy(deceased now) whose RP wife in another game (one of his really good irl friends) was getting death threats and irl info posted in public places in game. We had no idea how this guy got her info, but apparently he was pissed she wouldn't "dump" out friend to be with him. Because he thought there was an actual relationship going on.

My friend contacted police when they started doing it to him, too, who referred him to FBI. FBI petitioned SOE for the other player's information and arrested him on charges.

Stuff *does* get done about it sometimes.

It largely is based around many factors and the sad reality is your friends case is not the norm. Also my guess we are also missing many details cause generally I doubt FBI will get involved just just text threats over a video game. Unfortunately they do operate on importance based on threat.

The moral of this story: avoid the Novice Network at all costs.

you'll ultimately never be completely safe unless you change your name and hop servers.

Lodestone IDs are still unique and unchanging last I heard. Only way you're ghosting folks is if you make a completely new character.
