So much crashing!

i have had and increase in GPU temps (averaged at 10 Degrees Celsius), but have yet to have a random crash or any crash at all for that matter.

maybe your card cant handle the increased thermal output, try using MSi afterburner or rivatuner to control your fan. i use stepping mode, instead of manual or automatic modes.

Don't know if it's just this patch, but I've seen a lot more crashes than usual. People would crash as they're entering the Garuda fight or just randomly walking/riding around. Doesn't happen to me often but it has happened a few times.

Well Mushy must have realized it wasn't the patch. And the game wasn't overheating anything but his/her temper. Would have been nice to tell people but I guess that's the same as him/her admitting a mistake.

It is uncommon to have only direct x problems with overheating, the occasional BSoD will almost always show up. With that said, this case I'd be willing to bet a bearing in the fan, on the heatsink of the GPU went out.

That's my best guess.

This is more widespread than just OP. DirectX errors are pretty rampant with the 1.21 and 1.22 updates.

I have a friend who played fine till last patch and wham, crashes and locks system right after it. vOver hauled system, updated DIrect X, checked that the ati dll is in right folders, still crashes and started the moment after the patch.

my pc spec amd a-8 series 2.9 ghz o.c to 4.7 quad core 8gig mem/graphic card is xfx core ati raidon hd67770 1gig ddr5 dedicated and i have all settings maxed some days it playes fine other days it lages/crashes my case is a thermal take black widow series with 2 xxl fans top and side reg fan infront one in the rear psu 550w thermal take apu stays cool graph stays cool psu stays cool it is the game and it cant be fixed in its current stat that is why remake was done either deal with it or play 11 till it comes out

This is one of the things I do not like about the dev team for FFXI and FFXIV

When they tweak some things in the code there is not full disclosure to help us keep our rigs performing as intended.

They also do not release recommended drivers for card families. (although they did this for 11)

This is one thing i hope they change in ARR. tell us what drivers you're using when you're testing!

I've gotten a few random crashes myself, and when i CTRL+ALT+DEL to exit the game (because it wont end the program, it loads for hours), an error message pops up for Direct X, and then the task manager shows up and I exit the game from there. I don't get enough time to read what the direct X error is, but I have the most recent graphic drivers and everything. Since this patch is the only time I have gotten these errors.

In fact, earlier this morning i got this error in the middle of a leve and decided to just not play. I had to leave for work in the next hour anyways but I could have finished a few leves while waiting. :P
