What is this skill bloat people are talking about? I wish we had more skills empty slots on my hotbar trigger me.

I want more skills that I don't have to press
on a serious note, I'd like for them to add combo buttons akin to the playable NPC quests with a toggle

I want them to consolidate all movement buttons into just one button. There's no reason to have all that bloat for moving left and right and forward and back when you could just have one "move to the right spot" button. Heck, if you count the diagonals that's a whopping 7 directions you can consolidate into one!
Now you might say, "but movement is an integral part of the game" to which I say, sure! Keep it! But when are you ever going to move to the wrong spot on purpose? And honestly, it should just be a toggle for those who don't want it. Personally I think not letting you move to the wrong spot just makes the game better in every conceivable way, and makes more room for other movement buttons to be added.
If someone wins an argument, they have learned nothing.
FOR DOCKHAND!
If you want button prune, adopting PvP's combo system is the way to go IMO.
I love the idea of combo buttons. I adore the NIN aesthetic, for instance, but I feel like I have to be an octopus to play it right. Plus I love these suggestions about SAM since that was the only thing that could sometimes trip me up when I was leveling it.
If there were multiple connected skills on one button, maybe they could add new skills to allow weaving between the button presses without breaking the combo or something for some extra oomph. Something we can't really do right now since it would break the combo. That wouldn't be pruning but instead streamlining and improving.
I think some jobs have to few skills. I really don't get this mentality..
So many people love DNC/WHM/DRK/MCH, but I find it really boring because you have like 1 hotbar..
If we getva 321 button combo for example one day in pve i'm out, i'll find some other game that doesn't cater to babies
I don't understand why more buttons necessarily means more skill?I think some jobs have to few skills. I really don't get this mentality..

If rotations ever DID get simplified they could put that skill requirement into, say, less choreographed encounter designs.
I mean World of WarCraft and Elder Scrolls online both have much simpler rotations than FFXIV with much fewer buttons but both games are widely considered harder than FFXIV.
In Burning Crusade Classic some classes have literally a one or two button rotation but some guilds are still struggling to down Magtheridon.
I'd add that FFXIV isn't a tab target game, it's combat may be in real time but it's definitely not full on ARPG. And if playing your action piano fingers were meant to be a "skillful" thing macros wouldn't exist.I don't understand why more buttons necessarily means more skill?

Solo combos are just button bloat.
More buttons doesn't means more skill, look at AoE/Single Target variants. What's the decision behind "should I press X or Y?", the answer is always obvious if you know math and how the games works.I don't understand why more buttons necessarily means more skill?

But more button can also means more execution skill. Compare MCH wildfire from HW/SB to Wildfire from ShB.
As far as I know, raiding in WoW is a gear check, not mechanic+dps check. Crusade classic was cleared a few days after release.
No matter if you press 1 at the same speed, players will have different outcomes based on their gear. Gear is easy to access in XIV.
People who find the button number tedious just don't have any button management skill.
It's up to them to better manage their hotbar, not to the others to reduce their fun.
Believe me if you were to spam 1, you would first be relieved but then bored really, really hard.
