    What would you do if you had control over FFXIV?

    To specify, let's say you were hired on and had full control over ANYTHING related to FFXIV....what would you do?

    I know, it's a very ambiguous question and perhaps too vague for everyone, especially since many like to only give short responses. But I thought I'd post this just to see what types of answers we might get.

    Taking this proposal somewhat seriously for the sake of conversation. If the developer did ‘delete’ a certain race - how would they handle a solid chunk the player base who are suddenly unable to play their characters anymore?

    I know quite a few people want Lalafell, the easiest example since quite a few people dislike both the race and the players behind them, to be surgically removed. But how do you handle the players of said race in the aftermath of a deletion?

    -Option to hide hotbars when out of combat
    -dismount automatically when attacking to initiate combat
    -As a late comer to Bozja I am stuck on my relic because I can't get into Castrum. That's a bummer, fix that.

    Also the new engine thing but surely we all want this.

    And once we get infinite budget, expend all teams and most importantly class designers to include tank and healer mains.
    Rework glamour systems (aka the whole server infrastructure and server <=> client communication)

    Create legacy HW and StB servers or instances so you can play the old raids and such with the kit you had at the time, and either the min-ilvl or a midpoint. There was a time when I feared that Shb might be HW 3 in terms of design. I wanted something new. I was wrong.

    Oh, boy... to start...
    • Rework netcode and physics engine to the point that...
    • we can have cloth and hair physics (at multiple available levels, as such can be quite the performance-burner) and pinion/guide/wrap/anti-clipping frames (there are lots of different names for this same functionality by which to reduce clipping) for gear,
    • dynamic movement is possible (your Heavy Shot actually aims at your enemy, rather than rigidly towards your character facing, as does each strike in a multi-strike sequence, including taking on a different stance as necessary in tracking enemy movement or as you, yourself, move),
    • safe-pathable detection is possible (allowing a movement skill to 'snap' to a safe position nearest it's normal destination, though still only up to some 5% beyond its normal maximum),
    • AoEs have more precise and progressive hitboxes (think Trample, from the Chariot boss), and even auto-dodging actually involves your character shifting out of range of the attack through safe-pathable terrain,
    • larger enemies, especially, have more precise hurtboxes, such as a colossus requiring that we attack what we can actually reach, rather than the empty space between its legs,
    • mobs and players can move across non-terrain (or, special-terrain) surfaces, such as the backs of boarded dragons, rather than merely being affixed or the dragon having to essentially just be part of a thereafter-blocked-off/emptied terrain map,
    • mobs and players again have a Z-axis (height), and may leap over or cross under attacks (think Jump... as a potential evasion tool, or Elusive Jump against being able to leap from one rooftop to another),
    • mobs can have sub-units, often positionally or height-accessed, such that climbing up/boarding and fighting a large enemy actually feels like such and allows for deliberate orders of attack,
    • some degree of ragdoll physics is possible, allowing for enemies to be launched upward, knocked down, buckled, or displaced in reasonably realistic ways (at least... for the XIV universe),
    • units can hold additional value spectrums, such as (Effective) Mass, Heat, Charge, etc., which can anchor new and meaningful undermechanics (such as related to Gravity<-->Levity, Ice<-->Fire, staggering enemies, etc.),
    • spell effects could linger across the nearby area without having to be designated specifically as a terrain-affecting action (fire creating sight-occluding smoke, ice spells leaving an area frozen slick, etc., etc.)
    • movement skills could still allow for WASD movement mid-animation (allowing you to granularly decide to move, via WASD or joystick, short of the target, as far as the far end of their hitbox, to its left or right, etc., depending on that particular skill),
    • and PvP no longer feels like every character's operating under a drunken stupor.

    I would update the housing system, expand on the items for housing- increase interior item limits, design entire housing themes- like a housing pack (similar to BDO & ESO EX: player could have a forest hut with matching items)
    Along with that, I'd update the placement of items to make them easier & more accessible.

    I'd update the character creator- I'd also look at other MMO's & games with character creators & old Final Fantasy games as well as other SE titles-- I'd update the old races to be more on par with male & female Viera as far as beauty options go, change the elezens horrid run animation- add new faces/ hairstyles & features like more make-up options & more face-paint slots so more than one paint can be worn at once
    Give Au Ra players more horn choices that they can swap between faces so their face isn't locked to horn type (something that has been requested since Au Ra's release)
    I'd update all faces & give them better textures, more markings that aren't face locked for Miqo'te & fangs for both clans (for more personalization)
    Enhance eye colours & hair colours, add a more dye colours
    I'd add long hair & beards

    I'd also rework some of the animations to the battle jobs. I'd want to make the weapon stance animations more realistic & less awkward.
    -Black mage stance would be more upright, rather than them squatting halfway towards the ground
    -Machinist no longer would do flips & spins when they shoot- it makes ZERO sense as to why they do & I hate the class because of it
    -Bard/ Archer would have more impactful animations- like someone actually shooting a bow & arrow.
    -Ninja run animation would be toggled between rogue or Ninja for people who hate Ninja run
    -Paladin battle stance would be more realistic, with sword & shield closer to them & their legs less spread
    -Warrior stance would be changed so they're not animated awkwardly with legs spread, heaving with their axe like they're lifting weights.
    -Dark Knight would not place their sword into the ground or hold it over their shoulder. (goodbye shoulder)

    One thing I'd add 1st before all is Sheathes for weapons.
    I absolutely hate how the swords, guns & daggers are exposed.
