Folk play whatever they find the most aesthetically appealing.
The reason I lean toward Lala’s is because I enjoy characters that aren’t overly thin, traditionally beautiful nor ‘absolute body builder’ material.
Though I’d be willing to give other races a good shake if there was a weight slider or female hroth are just as interesting design- wise as their male counterparts.
I wouldn't agree. Both Sahagin and Ixal are quite slender. It's very much a case by case basis as to which beast tribe is beefy or not. It obviously fits large felines to be muscular, it's more the degree of it. I'd have rather seen them at a similar level to Highlanders and Au Ra, personally.
Your best bet is to get in touch with the person and ask/relay your concerns. For the time being, it is about the most accurate data we will get, and certainly more reliable than the figures SE routinely brings up as to its player headcount. Though if you know of a more accurate source I am all ears... or horns.Being outdated is not the problem.
He is most definitely using website scraping to get the information out of the Lodestone. That process is automated and the lodestone being absolutely horrible when it comes to loading pages, it is very frequent to end up with loading errors. Those errors are not a big deal... if he even cares to scrape those pages again (we don't know if he does). Then there's also the reliability of his crawlers. How frequently does the information that is being pulled from the lodestone is "saved" for the wrong character? Does he even bother to fix that? Does he do any kind of data validation? Cross-references with previous character history?
I do the very same thing he does with Free Companies and it takes a solid week to come up with a report that is 99.99%/100% accurate.
You are correct about trends, but your original post didn't contain such nuance.

When the game's story becomes self-aware:
I'm not dying to know, I simply find it curious to see people so blatantly using those numbers without a second thought, when very little is known about the methodology. They certainly look better than the ones simbiat (or whatever his name is) releases, but he uses the xivapi and its reliability is abysmal.I wouldn't agree. Both Sahagin and Ixal are quite slender. I don't think they should've used the Highlander model. Kimahri was the outlier of most Ronso being smaller than the others and I think that's who most people point to when comparing them to the Hrothgar, but the other Ronso are bigger than Kimahri. Plus the Hrothgar aren't even THAT big as people seem to keep implying, they're body builder sized:![]()
The problem is that weird wide hunched over stance makes them appear much bigger than they actually are and the gear they use for Hrothgar is fit with Roegadyn in mind which also doesn't help.

They're enormous even by bodybuilder standards. You'd be looking at the very upper extremes to find someone that big.I don't think they should've used the Highlander model. In all honesty I am curious now as well, because I hadn't given thought to the logistics involved in scraping the Lodestone to harvest data. I can understand why he doesn't specify this as a standard, because it probably goes beyond what most people are interested in or would understand about the topic, but at the same time he is Japanese so the answer may well already be there somewhere, in Japanese.I'm not dying to know, I simply find it curious to see people so blatantly using those numbers without a second thought, when very little is known about the methodology. Using Highlander wouldn't have made them non-hunchbacked, they'd just be skinnier and hunchbacked. It's not like that's a trait they inherited from the Roegadyn model.
Always disliked the idea of Hrothgar. FFXIV didn't need another cat race even if the demand for a bestial race was there. The opportunity presented itself in 3.0 with Aura & even the concept art proved to be popular, instead comically mascot faces, bad hunched over idle stance, poor head/hair implementation, ect...
Overall, just bad. Limited job & now limited race...
The idea of Hrothgar was just fine. It was the dev team's handling of their development that was wrong.Always disliked the idea of Hrothgar.
