While I mostly agree with you, I'd argue they actually did Hroths dirty, or rather, started with the wrong foot, since it's also kind of a "nobody's at fault" situation.

I mean, sure, they were never meant, let alone expected, to be a among the popular races, but it wouldn't surprise me roughly half of the people who Fantasia/created a Hroth switched to something else. Not only were they as neglected as Viera for the entirety of ShB, they're even more limited than them... in a game where appearances matter a lot. Why buy a Fantasia to change hair when you can just change to another race altogether - even I have considered switching back to Roe

This. A lot of feedback I have heard from players who tried out Hrothgar was that they would like to continue playing as a Hrothgar but the lack of hair/hats make staying as one difficult. Same goes for viera but to a lesser extent but it still stands that the lack of customization compared to other races make wanting to continue as these races hard.

On to the actual chart I am surprised by how small Hrothgar's number are as I feel like for every Roegadyn male i see i see two Hrothgars.

Viera numbers in JP are really surprising though. I guess it make sense since viera do fit more into western standards then JP's standards but I still expected then to be at least double what they are.

The fact that hrothgar hair is tied to fantasia is still scummy to me. The fact they haven’t addressed that at all is even more scummy to me. I get the time restraints and everything, but to release the race half assed as it was but then not even address the hair being locked behind fantasia(to my knowledge) is sad. I hope it’s something they mention soon because it’s the least they could do for hrothgar players.

I know we aren't suppose to talk about mod but modders have made other hairstyles as well as the ones that are locked to Hrothgar faces useable to other faces. So it's not impossible, it just takes time and making individual models for some of the heads. And I too hope they mention something about Hrothgar hair since I know they said they plan on adding more hairs but from my understanding they only mentioned vieras but idk.

Not surprised that female Miqote and Au'ra are the most popular, clearly the ones you see the most of everywhere.

However, very surprised that Hrothgar passed Roes though with all the limitations they have...
When you see the Female Roes, you do understand SE for not really wanting to create female Hrothgar.
I think that this race/gender combo will be the least played (unless they look REALLY cool)

I just race changed into a reptile so that is one fewer elf for now. I swear if they gave elezen slightly bigger heads and more fluid animations they would be popular.

I 100% agree with the head thing. I don't mind the animations that much, but the anatomy/proportions part is awful (T_T).

I hope they do. I normally play elves myself but their proportions and animations put me off, so even with the clipping and hips I like lizard men better. And of course midlanders.

i think hrothgar would have been better received if they were based off of the highlander body rather than the roegadyn body, and if their faces didn't stumble too far into uncanny valley territory. their faces range from dopey, uncanny, and ronso-like. ronso would have been a far better direction to take them. i don't have anything against roegadyn players, they just seem like victims of rushed development. they made them too wide and armor just stretches and contorts over them

It always struck me as odd that they used one of the least played body types for them. I was hoping for something closer to Byakko, particularly given that this would've been closer to the Ronso body type too.

I think they went with roe body instead because it was easier to just downsize the roe body then blow up the highlander body. I do have my quals with the Hrothgar body proportions but I think they are mostly good with the only real issue being their hunched stance/animations. Doesn't make much sense since they clearly can stand straight as one of their idles has them leaning straight back and some job stances/idles have them standing straight.
