Friendship Circlet needs to be revamped/buff in the current free trial model

    > Friendship Circlet: Increases EXP earned by 20% when level 25 and below.
    > Has no stats

We currently have free trial from lv1 to lv60. For the most majority of people, is is a better deal (money wise) to spend all your possible trial time as trial so you don't pay for game and sub for a thing you could play for free, only starting to pay subscription when they are ready to go Stormblood, aka lv60+

Yes, there are a few which will pay before in order to send tells, enter fcs, stay on login queue, etc, but nevertheless.

With that in mind, the "recruit a friend" never had any changes on it's items or bonuses since it was introduced, from what I can remember. It was already controversial to have a headgear that has no status, but the exp would offset it, since early dungeons are likely to be done even naked.

Issue is: Inside the game we can now receive the Brand-new Ring for free (and gives +3 all status):

    > Increases EXP earned by 30% when level 30 and below.

So that makes the friend recruit item even more worthless than already is.

It would be great if it was revamped to be like the other EXP bonus items we have currently, which are level sync'd and have higher exp:

    - Aetheryte Earring (ShB Pre-order bonus item: Increases EXP earned by 30% when level 70 and below. )
    - Menphina's Earring (EW Pre-order bonus item: Increases EXP earned by 30% when level 80 and below. )

It would be great to have Friendship Circlet to have AT LEAST "Increases EXP earned by 30% when level 60 and below." and have level sync'd stats like the two above.

It's already hard enough to get friends to go through the UI/UX hell that mogstation is to make an account and get the game, let alone make them register the code.

I know that for us, we only care for the Twintania, Choco and Dragon mounts, but for our friends (and SE revenue), it would really help with conversion from Trial into Purchase if they actually had an item to look for more than just for show.

Right now, Friendship Circlet on the current scenario with Free Trial is just a glamour item as it's irrelevant by the time someone subscribes. In the old model of not having trial and having to purchase, get 30 days and pay sub after that "worked". Now it doesn't.

    What you think?

I'd say you're probably missing the point. They knew that the beginning classes sucked and the rotations very simple. It makes the game a bit boring to be certain. Also for the recruit aspect, they saw it as someone who would be joining the game to play with their friend(s). By increasing experience gained, they could reach that lv 15+ sooner to run dungeons and then to 30+ to unlock jobs.

Brand New Ring was added for a similar purpose, which begins at lv 15 where you get access to Hall of Novice. They also then prepare you a full set of gear for the class you use on first completion, if I remember right. This was to make sure people were properly geared before the dungeon AND that they get their experience buff to get to 30 quicker.

Whether you realize it or not, the experience buff from those actually stack with each other. That makes a pretty significant combination of experience. And, to be honest, I think those are primarily made for a person's first alt more than it is for their first character. With MSQ gone when you start your alt, you lose a major source of significant experience. That means you're either running petty side quests, doing FATE, or completing leves until you're 15+. Then you're doing dungeon queues while repeating FATE and all. It gets boring. And without the experience boosts, you often end up having to repeat the same exact dungeon TONS of times.

I don't know what expansions and all those had been added, but I'm assuming been around since fairly early on because Hall of Novice doesn't teach you any of the common mechanics used pretty regularly after ARR, such as stack markers. So as they released expansions and level caps rose along with huge amount of xp needed, they decided to give the earrings to continue providing xp even into higher levels so people working on alts can get there. They saw where the average player works on almost every job, with quite a few reaching max level with everything. Doing it normally would take a lot of time. With them increasing level cap in the following expansion, they make an item with a significant xp boost available that helps all players get leveled to the starting point for the following expansion.

Again, they all stack when work and is effective. So you can get almost double experience from killing stuff up until about lv 25-30, which is when you're supposed to unlock your job. After which, experience drops to only the earring which is only there to help you get to level for next expansion, but not so fast that you don't figure out how to play your job properly. I mean, I kind of wish it counted quest experience too, but it still is very good with how it works.

The Friendship Circlet is not useless at all. First of all, it stacks with other Exp bonus granting items, so if you have both the Brand New Ring and the Friendship Circlet you get a 50% bonus for levels 1-25

Secondly, even if you gone past the free trial levels, that exp bonus is very nice when leveling alternative jobs/classes.

i think a change to the friendship circlet should be to add stats & ilvl, same as Menphina's earing, so it's the 'better gear piece' that you can keep till it's max level it buffs for, then it stops increasing the ilevel and stats, so your next headpiece that's better for your job is what switches out in the recommended gear feature.

I think back then when i started the game i leveled the hard way without all these things and still had fun. Not to mention that they anyways increased the exp gain of ARR by 50% as far as i remember so...yeah...

When leveling your first job through the game there is absolutely no problem getting enough xp even without any bonuses. (Used to be a bit of a gap around level 48-49, but that was fixed some years ago.)
It is when you are leveling your third (or fourth or fifth) job that these bonus xp items start becoming very nice to have.
