I'm gonna share an idea from a previous loot timer thread that I found as amusing as it is helpful:
(For anyone's reference here is that thread:https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...2-Roll-Timers?)If it looks like you have one or more Roll Trolls in the raid, at the final kill roll on the loot (pass on what you don't want/need/can-loot), then say in raid chat "Rolled, need to AFK for a few, great run all".
99 times out of a 100 the Roll Trolls will then go head and roll.

My move so far has been to roll then /sit near the exit.

When this happens I usually (but not always) just pop a squat right by the exit portal and say something along the lines of "It's okay, I've got all day." Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Other times I just stand there silently in defiance. Not gonna give whoever it is the pleasure of getting free loot, even if that is the end result. They are wasting my time, so I will waste theirs.

I usually tell the alliance that we should have a dance off while wait for everyone to roll and then start dancing. That usually does it. I've also done the "Going afk" and then sit and play games on my phone before, too. Once they realize they aren't going to get what they want, they usually want to roll and leave. What I've seen people post is to post that you've rolled and are needing to AFK for a bit.
That usually gets the players who are trying to game the system by making people wait leave as they're only wasting their own time if someone else who's rolled is going to be around for a few minutes.

I'd normally just state in alliance chat that I've rolled & I'm going to afk while waiting for the last person to roll.
Or: "I don't know why ya'all so afraid of me stealing your loots :P I rolled a 0!"
An annoyance for sure, but I don't think it's a big deal.

Yep, I usually just roll and get some water when it comes to the alliance raids since we all know there is that one person.
In-fact I was saved by the timer once. I had cleared a savage floor for the week and my raid leader always used lootmaster. I had d/c'd like right before the kill, so the timer covers these strange scenarios as they were still able to give me my loot.
It's a toss up at that point whether you want to roll for loot or fight enemies. Sometimes when people are constant pulling you then have to choose between helping with the fight and rolling for things, and if you're the tank (lets be real, tanks aren't always allowed to set the pace) or the healer, that could be bad.
There's also cutscenes to consider (sure you don't watch, other people might).. so SOME leeway is necessary.Fair points, for some reason I completely forgot about cutscenes lol.
Maybe if chests couldn't be opened until all cutscenes ended? Though that would probably cause a good chunk of issues as well.
I've seen this done before and boy oh boy is it way more entertaining than it has any right to be. xD
I just sit there at the exit and pull up an LP video on yt usually personally. Not worth the effort to engage the person holding loot hostage.

If you don't roll at all then you effectively do roll a zero. Even a greed roll of 1 will beat a non roll. There may be a hidden roll if no one rolls and the system just gives it to whoever wins that when it times out..Not sure where to post this.
Can we get something changed with the loot/roll system. Make it so we can roll and then leave without having to wait for everyone. Also make it so that if you do not roll you get 0 of the loot. It should automatically be a forfeit on the loot.
People acting in a scummy way of refusing to roll, hoping others leave so they get the loot to themselves gets very tiresome. Another thing how about giving us a window or something that shows who has currently rolled on loot. Then if nothing else we can report these people for that type of behavior.
But a lot of the time people don't roll because of how the loot system works.. If I do a raid for example and I want the body piece or perhaps the leg piece as a second choice. I'll roll on the body, pass all the crap I dont want but will not roll on the leg drop until the body piece has been resolved.. If I win the body I'll pass on the legs and leave.. if I dont win the body then I'll roll on the legs. Players typically won't roll on everything at once because if they get a 99 on the body but the head gets resolved first and they won that with a 23 they lose the body they wanted and had a great roll for.
The problem often comes from clashes between players.. If I was player A for example and someone else player B. wants the legs but will settle for the body, they'll typically do the opposite. They'll roll on the legs, pass all the crap they dont want but will not roll on the body until the legs have been resolved...
In this scenario players A B and everyone else are basically stuck waiting because Player A is waiting for the body drop to be resolved before rolling on the legs. Player B is waiting for the leg drop to be resolved before rolling on the body. and as such neither of those pieces gets resolved and everyone is stuck waiting.
It gets worse when you factor in player C who maybe wants the legs, but would settle for the hands. and Player D who wants the hands to finish a set but wouldnt mind the body to start another set... and Player E who wants hands but would settle for the feet.... and now none of the drops are getting resolved so the entire party is waiting for basically all the drops to be resolved.
You can't report people for not rolling people tried this before back in alexander raids and even omega stuff. It's not considered griefing or harrassment because of the examples above. Players usually do roll on their first choices pretty quick.. but wont roll on there second choice unless theyve lost the roll on there first choice.. or wont roll on there third choice until there second has been resolved etc..
There has even been posts asking to make loot rolls last longer because in things like alliance raids. the second boss drops say a casting piece but everyone wants the piece from the last boss or something. so people have suggested before to keep the loot pool open until say 5 minutes after the duty is complete. so if the last boss doesn't drop what they want they can then decide to roll on the one the second boss dropped earlier if they dont want to do the content again that week...
Most of the time when people don't roll it's because they're waiting on another roll to be resolved first..
unless of course its a dungeon in which case players usaully just steam roll through and dont even look at the loot window or open the chests.

It's not that bad to wait 2 minutes, time to have a drink or a break. After all, how long is it in the face of intensive farming.
You can't do anything about it anyway.
