Hey all,

So I started playing FF14 about 2 months ago and everything was fine. About a month ago, I started getting random stutters and freezing that would only last a few seconds, then go away. It started to get more and more frequent over the next few days until it got to the point where my entire screen would freeze, the audio would buzz, and the PC would be unresponsive until I held the power button. Upon restart this would happen every 5 min. Even while watching YouTube, or just sitting on the desktop.

If I just had Chrome or other software open, I would get the freezing, to blue screen DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION and a reset. With FF14 open, I would get the Fatal DX Error, freezing, and reset.

This seems to be a pretty common issue for a lot of people, but I was finally able to find a fix that worked for me. At least its been 6 days, no freezing. I hope it works for you too!

So I guess FF14 tries to force 90FPS on PC? Not sure if this is true or if there is any science to it, but it was the root of the solution, so maybe. So my NVIDIA control panel was set to unlimited FPS so I guess there's some fuckery with FF14 trying to force 90 and NVIDIA allowing anything. I went into my NVIDIA control panel and set a limit specifically to FF14 to cap at 90FPS and that was it. Ill post pics and the YouTube video I found that explained it.

If you have an AMD card I'm sure there's a way to do this as well. Just look through the AMD settings. The game now is capped at 90FPS but I haven't had a single crash, stutter, DX Error, or any issue at all. I really hope this works for you. Because given the issues people have been having, it seems like a miracle that its fixed for me.
