the only reason i‘d wish for this is because i could proceed doing the story quests and dungeons with friends as a sage!
A prepatch would be pretty cool, but, it's either a lot of effort to make an event that'll only be experienced once (though I guess they did do one of the most amazing prepatch events at the end of 1.0)- or it's lazy and annoying.
Like, WoW has them of course... but usually it's just mobs wandering about. The ShL one was one of the worst things I've ever seen and the game was made worse for it existing- the BfA and Legion ones were fun but they also had a lot more to them and were far more narrative.
Thing is- WoW uses their prepatch to set up the story of the next xpac which may have zero to do with the previous xpac.
FFXIV uses their entire xpac to set up the next xpac, and their final patch basically has more to do with the next xpac than the rest of the xpac it is in- this basically is the prepatch we're in right now, and it's considerably more in depth and extensive.
The reason I would like this is because it would mean by bunboi would be ready to go from the start when Endwalker actually drops im gonna be fighting with all the queue's trying to make an alt male Viera to see him in game to make sure the skintone is right, no doubt this will actually take 2 or 3 creations before I settle on one and then once I have the finished result fantasia my main. All of this is time consuming and requires alot of logging in and out
It would be nice to get our hands on jobs ahead of time in some capacity, to help the devs troubleshoot oversights or plain bad design.
Remember when SB launched and BLMs foul had a mana cost? lmao.
Remember SCH in any expansion?
First of all, what's a couple of days delay, really. During that time, I would hope that people are learning those jobs, rather than rushing to endgame , without even reading their tooltips or knowing basic mechanics - and before anyone jumps in I realize that there are 10 year veterans to whom this likely doesn't apply , or people who very quickly can pick up on a new MMO or job.The point is to launch new jobs and new races 1-2 weeks prior the actual expansion release.
As i mentioned earlier, this will allow for players to go into endwalker with their sage / reaper lvl 80 from the get go without wasting 2-3 days while everyone else is having fun in new dungeons / zones.
Also, let's be honest, everyone will start with early access. EA is here to justify the server instability at launch and potential major bugs that will be fixed right before the "actual" relase
Secondly, at least one of those jobs (reaper) is integral to the EW story so for myself it makes sense that it forms part of the release. That's probably the major reason for SE (Yoshi)
Third- as pointed out in a prior post - adding jobs isn't trivial for the dev team, so that is likely why they form part of major release, due to all of the resources that are required to deliver them, and then adjustments are delivered in minor patches or hot fixes.

I suppose it's for the best, considering how many people (even to this day) complain how DRK/AST/MCH are locked behind Ishgard.
Which you can only access through the MSQ.
Hey, at least they finally gave it its proper stat traits (i.e. Mind) in SB.
