I have a hard and fast rule that I never comm a person who asks for it. So this may backfire.Just que up for cape westwind and have a macro made saying something like "Congratulations on winning the trials roulette lottery and getting cape westwind i am shamelessly aiming for commendations and would appreciate your continued support"
Because i know whenever i get cape westwind during trials roulette i feel like i won that day, and would happily give a commendation if someone got me that on purpose.
It would be about as boring as watching pain dry, but could honestly get the tank commendations needed in a few days.
Reminds me when both healers in a E12n run kept dying and getting hit so I was forced to be the rez mage for the day. Some of the dps were also getting hit too much and eventually it was only me, a tank, and like a random dps alive. So when the lb3 was ready got one of the healers up, had them smack that lb3, then we went on to pass.Another thing is like, people only comm based on the skill they themself can perceive. Like you might carry a run on tank by being really good and using your heals and group mit to keep people up as the healers die or your invuln to buy just enough time for a healer LB3 or something... but the players just see, oh the healer LB3 saved us all! Everyone comms the healer.
Afterwards the tank who was on the floor the most: good job healer!!! You saved the run!
No comms.
I really should laugh but... dayum lol.Reminds me when both healers in a E12n run kept dying and getting hit so I was forced to be the rez mage for the day. I generally comm in an order.
1- Someone being really positive, or in rare cases someone who gets told off by another player (luckily rare)
2- Sprouts/people who are watching the cinematics
3- Someone who did something that saved the group (like a healer who brings up everyone when it looks like a wipe)
4- My role (if I'm dps, another dps, if I heal, another healer)
You prob got a comm from the other tank, imo.
That sucksReminds me when both healers in a E12n run kept dying and getting hit so I was forced to be the rez mage for the day. If I'm in the group, you'd get at least one. I try to give kudos in group chat so the group knows, too. I appreciate the assist from my rez mages and summoners.
I assume you meant the return to home point pop-up window?I've been playing for a few weeks now and that's my primary (only, really) criticism of FFXIV; there's not enough hand holding early on to tell you about basic mechanics in the game...and there are SO many of them. Doesn't have to be much; a quick tutorial in the Hall of Smith that discusses basic things would be sufficient. A quick fer-instance...I died for the first time in a dungeon last night. And I couldn't figure out how to ... well, the term I know is rezz ... I clicked the OK button, nothing happened. I tried all sorts of things, including clicking the OK button over and over...nada, nil, zip. I wasn't until I held my finger down on the mouse button for a second or so while clicking the OK button that I noticed the button had a progress bar, and when I let it reach the end, magically I was rezzed and could run after my party.
Who does that??!! No other program has a progress bar in a button...buttons are to be clicked, not held down!
Because the accept res button is instant and doesn't have progress bar.
Like someone eles has mentioned, the reason they made the ok button in the return to home point window has progress bar is because sometimes people mistaken it for the res window and just click ok and accidentally return to home point instead of being res. With progress bar, you won't accidentally return and can wait for the actual res window.
Not sure I understand so correct me if I say anything wrong:I assume you meant the return to home point pop-up window?

You're saying the screen I saw was a "return to home point" window, and not a rez window. OK, in that case I don't know what a rez window looks like because the healer of the party didn't rez me. I may be mis-remembering this because it was all so quick and I was in the middle of combat and eager to get back to help my party...but I died, my toon appeared back at the start of the dungeon and couldn't move or do anything except click the button in some kind of window that popped up. I clicked and held the button, and then was able to run back to my party and finish the dungeon.
So with that description of what I "think" happened...can anyone tell me what really happened?
Another thing...this happened in Haukke Manor and the videos I've watched, and the one experienced person in game also did, was click their Return button to save time and go back to the beginning and finish off the third floor of that dungeon. I didn't do that because my Return button is set to Gridania...but I think perhaps if I had clicked my Return button, would it have taken me back to the beginning, and NOT Gridania?? This seems like it could be one of those little gotchas I mentioned before.Because I didn't follow the guides, I ran back to the beginning, and dragged a bunch of trash mobs behind me. Not that we has any problems...but pretty sure the one experienced player (the healer) did some eye-rolling at that point.
