So I just raid led a Castrum/Suggestion

So here I am on a Friday night drinking Mango Pinapple vodka and orange juice and you know sometimes I need to switch it up. I decide to do Main Scenario roulette as I am leveling this Summoner.

I queue and see Castrum so automatically I expect to spend the next 30 minutes filling slots as people drop extremely quick because the XP is not nearly as good as Prae and FF14 normally have "magically server disconnects" when Castrum appears.

So it loads and we are in there. I notice it is me and 7 sprouts. Alright so internally I am sweating but being the kind gentleman that I am I decide to take the lead. I start doing markers on spot lights to let the sprouts know this is important.

I then assume ok maybe we got some levels 60's here or pre Shadowbringers people that have done this until I notice they are all following me. The internal sweating gets worse but I lead on!

I break down the point of this place and explain all the boss fights. We are all talking as they run different directions but following me in the end. I forgot how lost you can get in that place.

We get to Livia and I explain the fight. Taking her down I run back and forth from the cannons as the Sprout army kills the adds I ordered them too.

In the end we kill her. I wait......internally sweating more....I then leave and only one Commendation.

Suggestion: Square Enix make it easier to give me commendations. Like what is that?!??!

In my RP world I am brought into a room where a forum mod slowly removes my medals then slapping me in my face in shame.

Casuals don't give commendations because they believe that it's Mentor's job and obligation to carry them while expecting nothing in return. There is a lenghty thread on the matter where casuals were demanding harsher punishments for Mentors that don't carry people through EX trials.

It is what it is. XIV's casual playerbase is extremely toxic and aggresive.

Make it so that if you are a sprout you can't leave the instance until you commend someone or the rest of the party leave.

Give people a notice that says, "you can commend someone other than the miqo'te you have been drooling over in the bikini".

I jest, though I have found recently many just do not know commending is actually a thing you can do. There are those who are already mentors and just do not think about it anymore, and some do not even say hi in a dungeon and use duty leave never even going through the exit portal. Also the standards some have for commending someone can vary. If you lb3 as a healer it is usually and instant com, if the run had another clutch moment coms go out, but for average smooth runs of anything most do not think to commend because no one was playing 'super well' if things go smoothly. It is just another day another dungeon. The few people I have inquired about why they commend people was all vastly different ranging from "They rezzed me so I gave them a com", "damn she fine" , "well she asked for one, I was being nice", "I liked their glam", "they were the healer and they kept my hp full", "they were healer or they were tank", and my least favorite "because ooooh wooooh she was such a cute cat girl(and or bun bun) oooh whoooh"(which most of these make me cringe no offense to anyone). I usually try to com the people I know are doing well, who are learning, friendliness, and kicking booty.

This may have possibly killed me. Thank you for this thread. You glorious unsung hero! I would commend you if I could. Though something honestly that would be nice, is the ability to com more than one person. I have had darn good groups in castrum and prae being stuck only able to give it to one person is heartbreaking. Also other alliances for witty things some have said that made me laugh in crystal tower series.

one should never expect to get comms. you should only just be pleasantly surprised you get any.
