FFXIV UI Small and Not sure how to fix.

Having an issue! I booted up my laptop this morning (Dell XPS 9500,4K monitor), and suddenly noticed the font on the FFXIV main screen was tiny.. like really tiny. I booted up the game too and it was really small font there. I tried scaling the UI and it didn't help. Everything stayed small and awkward. On my monitor (second screen, 1080P monitor), everything looks normal, but the bar ontop of the UI is huge..

I don't know which setting messed up but I really want to fix this! It was perfectly playable before. I could like switch between the two monitors and it was okay. Can someone advise what happened to mess up all of my settings?

I don't actually want to do 4k on the computer. Is that what went wrong?

yes, that's 4k. if you have a 4k monitor and don't want to run the game at 4k, you have to run the game in fullscreen and choose a lower resolution. if you want to run it in 4k, you'll need to choose the 4k scaling option in the system settings, and manually adjust your font size to make it larger

actually, the 4k scaling will make your UI larger. it looks like you may have already chosen a higher scaling option (150% or 200%), so set that down to 100% if you want it smaller. or choose what looks best

The frames per second drop regardless of what I do on the 4k screen. I'm not really sure how to fix that either. Can I somehow make it so FFXIV does not run 4k at all on my laptop?

yes. you have to run it in fullscreen and select a different resolution like 1920x1080. or, you have to set your desktop resolution in windows to a lower resolution, then you can run ffxiv borderless windowed or just windowed
