Revelations from the Endwalker Preview Site

The Preview site for 6.0 has been updated, including lore on some of the zones and the new jobs.

Some key tidbits

- Labyrinthos is confirmed to be under Old Sharlayan and is essentially a doomsday bunker.
- Garlemald's imperial capital would be classified as modern-day urban if it was still standing
- There are people, probably Sharlayans, aware of the artificial structures on the Moon.
- Radz-at-han was founded by the Arkasodara tribe of Matanga, alongside Au ra and Hyur immigrants. One of the few (if not the only) city-states that were clearly founded by what Eorzeans would be raised to believe is a beast tribe.
- Reaper is a Garlean job. The Garleans were once simple farmers in Southern Ilsabard before some of the more magically-inclined races drove them north to the snowy wastes. In order to survive and fight, some of the Garleans tried to find ways to make up for their lack of aether, and turned to Voidsent as a solution. The one-time farmers would pick up their scythes, not to sew the land, but to reap the lives of their enemies. Moral of the story, don't bully farmers or they make pacts with Satan.

Not gonna lie, those job icons will give Gunbreaker a run for its money with how, "interesting" they look.

RPR being created by Garleans is somewhat ironic given they were the ones who were so sanctimonious about those who were conspiring to summon Primals and the like (you know, the whole "go forth and conquer other nations to destroy the Primals" thing), so this revelation just makes the whole country into a bunch of hypocrites, unless the Job was driven underground when they discovered magitek and everything... in which case, they're still hypocrites (I knew they always were, but this just underlines it). :P

What am I saying? The Empire was founded by an Ascian, that their ancestors once conspired with summoning low-level voidsent as well... I think is pretty much normal for them now. :P

Having said that, it does explain one detail though - the scythe, given they were farmers after all, no wonder they took to using their tools as a weapon. So that gets a pass at least. :P

Moral boundaries are afforded to those whose survival is not threatened. The Garleans needing to pick up such things to survive I personally don't see much of a problem with, because I doubt they knew much about voidsent when the job first began. Of course, their attitude after overcoming their oppressors is another discussion that I am not willing to have. Just remember that we are also going to be using voidsent to enhance our abilities as Reapers.

EDIT: Also, remember the whole deal with primals was instilled into the empire by Emet-Selch as Solus, so it may be that Reapers were indeed driven underground after this statement was made... I still think the scythe Zenos is using belonged to Solus.

I had imagined male viera mistreating children and forcing them to assassinate monsters and it appears we got cute children being raised in apparently pretty lovable manners by a couple/a group of male vieras, which his far from what I imagined. Maybe it's one of those lore retcons that're gonna happen in EW to support male viera playable (?)

Additive retcon: the Dramaturge only knows what he's heard from the few females willing to speak with him on the subject, and they only know the stories their mothers told them to keep them from misbehaving. In actuality, males form a sort a roaming conclave, sleep in the boughs of trees, and live out days of solidarity and brotherhood much like their sisters in the villages, leaving behind no traces of their passage.

I think its prettttyyyyy likely that the lore is gonna be 'The dramaturge doesn't know everything, he got some things wrong' and that's gonna be it tbh, so your head cannon is pretty plausible imo
