Why though isn't everyone else?

He can give his opinion all he wants- and players in the community can give their opinions all they want. What's baffling is the same people praising him for giving half baked takes on a game he clearly had every intention of hating from the start- also are calling everyone else toxic for daring to criticize him for it.

People are praising streamers for giving criticism, and saying that criticism is good for the game. Then, those same people are turning around and slamming people who criticize streamers. Well which is it? Is criticism good, or is it something to be avoided at all costs? If criticism is great when you agree, but bad when you disagree- then you don't actually think criticism is good- you think validation is good.

Isn't 'maybe you won't die if you don't stand in mechanics multiple times' fair criticism of a streamer who thinks he's god tier yet spends all his time dead being carried?

Isn't 'maybe play the game before you hate on it' fair criticism for a streamer that skipped it all then trashes things he didn't even experience?

Isn't 'calling the community trash then expecting them to not call you trash in return is pretty hypocritical' fair criticism of his attitude to other players?

Do the people going to bat for this streamer have the same adoration when they have a raid and someone's constantly standing in mechanics while also calling everyone else trash and blaming the healers?
I agree with everything you said.

The thing is, while all opinions are valid (because people are entitled to them), not all opinions are good.

Some opinions are bad because they're uninformed, biased, and unfair. Quin's opinion falls in this category.

And that's why it shouldn't be a big deal. We shouldn't even consider his opinion because we all can see that it's a badly formed opinion (even people who don't play FFXIV agree with this).

The people giving him praise for his half-baked opinion of FFXIV are the same people who were never going to give FFXIV a chance. These are people who were biased against the game from the beginning. And of course, those same people are going to bash those calling out Quin's bad take of the game. Because they need someone to say the game sucks.

What I'm trying to say is that we shouldn't even pay attention to half-baked opinions because they're not helpful at all.

Getting upset about Quin not liking FFXIV is like getting upset about a 10 year-old kid saying that Lord of the Rings was boring because Gandalf didn't shoot any fireballs out of his staff and characters talked too much.

Yeah, he has an audience. But here's the thing: the rational-minded section of his audience is calling him out for making a half-baked opinion.

Just let it be. Constantly criticizing him on his social media isn't going to achieve anything. Debating with his hardcore fans won't achieve anything.

The reason it won't achieve anything is because you're talking to an irrational audience that is biased against the game and doesn't care to hear your reasoning, no matter how logical.

All it's going to do is make the FFXIV community look like weirdos who freak out any time someone criticizes the game.
