Second: I'm guessing this is some kind of new drama happening that I somehow missed even though I follow the reddit and some twitter stuff. From what I saw in the video OP linked (completely unnecessary and probably just to stir the pot) the guy absolutely deserves to be mocked for his behavior and performance, though not harassed. That's the name of the game with social media platforms and I highly doubt he's hurting from mean words on the internet considering his career.

Streamers, atleast the good ones, don't get paid to just play video games. Someone made a pretty interesting video on this the other day. People don't want to sit and watch someone else play video games, for the most part. Your good streamers know this. The good streamers, like Asmon, are entertainers first and foremost. They are not sitting there just playing a video game. The game is just a backdrop, a set piece. They are holding conversations, sometimes multiple conversations, most of the time not about the game they are playing. They are engaging their chat/viewers/audience. A lot of work goes into it, it is not an easy thing to pull off.

So no they do not get paid just to play games. They are entertainers. They can make or break a game, look at among us. look, all props to streamers for WHAT HEY ARE... entertainers. no different than people who are in movies or on tv.

truth is, everyone oo's and ahhh's or in some cases as we see on the forums, basically fanboi's over them and must need a towel for the drool puddle. but the people who have supported the game for YEARS deserve more recognition and credit than a streamer does. yes, they are raising awareness of the game, thats awesome. bringing in new players, thats awesome too. that might offset years of ragging on the game and the damage THAT caused.

all I am saying is all the praise for what they "do" is misplaced and should be more freely given to those who have enjoyed, and supported the game for far longer and with far less recognition. this fascination lately with many streamers I have never even heard of seems like an unhealthy obsession

I agree…mostly but I think that sometimes you can’t stand chill and idle when you see or hear some nonsense.
I mean, it’s legit if you don’t like a game or if you find something particular you don’t like about that game, may be the story, the gameplay, contents or what else. It’s right as long as you bring some logical arguments.
Asmon, for example, before starting play XIV said that he would not find it as funny as WoW because of their different styles. He thought he was an WoW player and XIV simply was not to his liking. That’s logical.
I played once WoW and I find it not to my liking. I don’t care playing it. I don’t care try it to complain.

But this guy…this Quin he tried XIV only to complain about everything of the game…without even try it for real. Like the one who complained about how that fountain could work…in a fantasy game. This is idiocy. Pure stupidity to catch some views.

All I know is my bird feed started spamming some rando's complaint on loving FFXIV 's Waifus but the story from 1-30 was trash. The game was too easy, boosted Sam and gets mocked for wiping to trash mobs and first boss multiple times while not adjusting or learning about the class.

Not sure why it was across my feed when it should be more art and artist, but yeah. Not my cup of tea, though, I did enjoy sipping from that cup when it did appear.

No, I get annoyed when people try to make an opinion about something and try to do it under the guise of he was making informed opinions or assertions to someone with a fairly large following, especially when his reviews will help to inform people other than himself about the game. This is why it is a problem. It's not even down to this game, but me making a general statement that it's a complete and apparent disingenuous thing to do. He didn't go into this with a clear or open mindset, he went in there with genuine and deliberate intent to try and dump on the game.

It has little to do with the game itself and more on the basis of principle, is that difficult for you to understand? This has nothing to do with being part of a cult or trying to be a zealot. He's free to have his opinion to a large audience provided he's not trying to push himself across as though he's making a well-informed opinion, or at least an opinion formed on solid experience - Especially when in reality it is anything but informed. - Don't try and critique something when you have little idea or experience with what exactly it is you're critiquing.

Yep, exactly, and I would feel this way if someone said they didn't like literally anything else without giving something a proper go. I'm not going to attack the guy, but I will say that he went about FF XIV the wrong way. In FF XIV, it's more about the journey than the destination. If someone doesn't like the game, it's fine. Heck, they are also free to give whatever feedback they wish. But they should at least know what they are talking about first.

Yeah, streamer opinions hold little weight for me. Still, sometimes they make some good points.

FFXIV asks a lot more of individual players to not trigger devastating (but also extremely telegraphed) mechanical counters - to, at a very essential level, 'know the fights.' If you don't do your homework going into these encounters and then wipe your team, that says more about you as a gamer than it does about the game itself.

This is also along the line of thinking as to why we are not getting Mythic plus anytime soon as Yoshi P basically said the small group sizes plus accountability would be hard to design for so they are going with the bigger raids.
